Kabuota 7610
Ok, this will be long so sit down and rub your eyes before beginning. I live in central Illinois, and my wife and I just recently purchased five acres. It is as flat as flat can be....and is currently all pasture grass. The pasture grass is good since we will be bring two portable mowing mechines that are brown and furry. We have been boarding our horses for nearly five years and the price weve spent on rent would make anyone sick. We decided to take a plunge and go off on our own so all this has led me to this sight in search of a tractor that will fill my needs. I began looking at John Deere and was about an inch away from putting money down on a used 4110. It was a clean tractor with 225 hours on it but it had a 12,900 price tag. I joined this sight about two weeks ago and just now figuerd how to set up a new thread..... Anyways I have three Kabota dealers within 45 minutes of me and liked the ole mom and pop one the best. I have decided on the B7610 with the 352 loader. I hope this will be big enough to pull a pull behind mower, drill post holes and scoop poop. I saw my new lil buddy last week still in a box...I was just called today by the dealer and was told that he is ready to be delivered. I plan on calling him "mini moose". I ended up spending 13,700 delivered, with two hats. Im all ears for any comments or advise..:D

The 7610 is a nice tractor and I think it will treat you fine! Congratulations and welcome to the board! :)

P.S. I like your choice in trucks!

Since you've already bought it, what would you do if someone told you that you made a bad choice?:D But I really do believe you'll be very happy with that rig. You didn't say what kind of barn or shed you'll have for the horses and whether or not you got the folding ROPS, or whether the barn will have a high enough roof, for you to use the front end loader to clean out the droppings.

When I had my B7100 with a front end loader, I had a friend a few miles down the road who had a calf barn that hadn't been cleaned out in several years. Since he was a full time farmer, he had some big John Deere tractors, but they were too big to get into that barn, so I cleaned out the barn, and piled the stuff outside. He then loaded it into his dump truck (two loads) with one of his big tractors and dumped it in my vegetable garden. That worked well for both of us.

Welcome Duce50!

I think you'll find the B7610 a little workhorse - probably small enough to muck out your stalls - but tough and powerful for mowing and post hole drilling as well.

Just make sure you use a counterweight on the 3PH when "scooping poop" - because that sh*t is heavy! :D :D (I just couldn't resist!)

Enjoy!

Thanks everybody for your responces so far. BIRD, in reference the barn issue, I just ordered a 60X40 with 14 ft. to the eves. I'll have one overhead, and two sliding doors that will be at least 12 ft tall so the ROPS wont be an issue. I just got the driveway cut in this week and went over the final plans for the barn. Hopefully within three-four weeks things will be starting. DAN, how do you like the tooth bar you put on....what was the install like?

Thanks again.

Duce50 -

The toothbar (I got mine from the great folks at Markham Welding) was @ 15 mins to install - simply slip onto the front cutting edge of the bucket - and use the holes in the toothbar as a drilling guide. Markham provides all the fastening hardware - so all you would need are a drill, 2-3 drill bits (1/2" hole is a little big to do in one pass...) and 2 adjustable wrenches.

Here's the Markham Website (newly updated I see...click on "Tooth Bar" link on left side for more detailed pics to see how it gets mounted):

**********************************

As far as utility - if you are clearing land / pulling up saplings / prying up smaller rocks and boulders - a tooth bar can't be beat - it really concentrates the loader power into the teeth - the difference is really amazing. For mucking stalls though, I think taking the TB off (< 5 mins) will be better - the smooth bucket edge will work better on flat surfaces.

Hope that helps!

Cheers,

Dan

Bill, Congrats on your purchase too. What did you buy and from what dealership? I currently live in Newark, just north of Ottawa.
I purchased my 7610 from Streator Farm Mart. I felt that they gave me a good deal. I got several other quotes from other dealerships but had to play the price game.....Streator Farm Mart gave me the lowest price right from the start.

i've had my b7610 w/352 fel & woods bh for over 2 yrs. now.Works great!!!
As far as the mower question,i cant really answer that, but i will tell you this.
Last year i bought a 52" woods rototiller for it and thought it might be too much for the tractor. No way, heck it just plays with it.So it certainly ought to power a post hole digger.Good luck with your new machine.

I can't help but be curious as to how you acquired the nickname "digger". I have a son-in-law with the same nickname, but I know how he got it; he was a funeral director for many years.:D

Digger,
Thanks for the input. It makes one feel better after taking the plunge. I plan on meeting with the dealership on Friday for the pre-deliverly inspection. I dont want it delivered and then have an issue. There was just so many choices out there but I felt that Kabota has been around for along time and thats an insurance policy in itself. I cnat wait to start playing farmer. Do you do your own oil changes?? what brand???

Thanks Chad

Chad, I think most owners do their own oil changes. Just be sure you get an oil with an API rating for diesel. Of course many oils are rated for both gasoline and diesel engines and the ratings are marked on the containers. API ratings that start with the letter "S" are for gasoline engines and ratings that start with the letter "C" are for diesel engines. I don't know about the new manuals, but in my previous experience with Kubota, they were a little behind in updating manuals. Mine called for oils rated CC or CD which are obsolete ratings and you won't find them. The farther up the alphabet the second letter is, the newer the rating and the newer ratings include the older. I used a CH-4 oil, but haven't looked the last 3 or 4 years to see what they might be up to.

And I think you'll find that Shell's Rotella and Chevron's Delo 400 are the two most popular diesel oils, unless you want to go to one of the synthetic oils. And if you go to the Oil, Fuel and Lubricants forum you can find lots of arguments as to whether synthetics are worth the cost difference.:D

yeah,i do my own oil changes.I've only changed it once so far,not too bad
once you figure out the drawings in the owners manual.I use genuine kubota stuff,at least till its out of warranty.Oh,and unless they changed the owners manual on the B7610,the capacity for the trans. is way wrong.Check with your dealer as to the right amount that is supposed to go in before you overflow it like i did.The only problems i've had with mine are (1)the vinyl on the seat keeps pulling through the webbing on the edge, dealer replaced 3 times,no questions asked.Dont understand it,i only weigh 185#(2)on my 352 fel,i think i may have a problem with that, but it could be just me.I posted about that about a week ago if you want to read about it.Other than that
it works great.I thought it was the best bang for the buck.
Oh,Bird,my girlfreind gave me that name after i bought the tractor.
It came with a woods backhoe on it and i just could'nt seem to get off it for days....i was havin' a blast.

I bought my 7610 about 3 months ago. have about 45 hours on it now. I think you will be quite impressed with this machine once you have begun using it. I too use it to tend a small horse farm. A few observations of mine:

1) I second all comments about the toothbar that have been made. Makes your loader much more versatile.
2) I usually have a box blade on the tractor when using my loader to scrape manure, digging, etc, and have found that the extra weight it provides is an adequate counterweight.
3) My transmission has this whining sound, and from what I have understood from others on TBN, its to be expected and should get better over time and after the 50 hr service.
4) You won't be needing your wheelbarrow anymore, donate it to Goodwill.
5) Make it a habit to "tap the brakes" every time you get on it to drive, to disengage the parking brake. I drove mine around for about 5 minutes, wondering why this thing was so sluggish, only to find I had forgotten to disengage to brake.
Hope you enjoy yours as much as I have enjoyed mine.

Bird, Digger2, Botagreen and anyone else I forgot.....Thanks. I realy enjoy reading everyones comments and past expierences. Im still trying to get Friday off so I can get the tractor home.......Ill post pictures if I can figure out how to do it..

I dont know all the ins and outs about a three point hitch yet. I grew up on a farm but I was young and whenever I did operate mechinery, it had already been hooked up. I noticed from lots of the coments that the counterweight seems to be a good idea with these lil tractors. My father said that he has a three point something or other so I can make a counterweight out of a barrel or a weight box. Ive been looking at the customizing form but havent seen anything yet. Any idaes?

Keep the W B you will still find uses for it .1 that comes to mind is small areas you can't get to with a tractor.
