Hello, I purchased a used PHD with no Operators manual. My question here is regarding lubrication in the gearbox housing of the PHD. There is a "screw in plug" on the top and a "screw in plug" on the upper side of the housing. I am assuming that the top plug is for filling and the side plug is used to determine fill level and to drain if needed. My
question is what is the correct lubrication for a PHD housing? It smells like HD gear oil. I DO NOT know the make but am assuming that all PHD housings might take the same lubrication. Am I correct about the side plug being for fill level? I would greatly appreciate any advise. I wrote earlier about the stuck PTO shaft and those that answered were so helpfull. Thank you.

In the worksaver line of phd the answer is yes the side plug is for fill level, and the lubricant is 80/90 weight gear oil, buying it used a flush and fill might be in order than you know for sure what its running with, good luck. Tim

I agree with BuningTreeFarm, 80/90 weight gear oil is what I put in mine. The side hole is the fill level. Don't overfill it or you'll blow a seal....

80-90 weight oil in the gear box for mine. Take both plugs out. Fill from the top one. When oil runs out the lower plug your full. Thats the way mine is. 2/3rd's full is what it recomends
