another "what size" question

/ another "what size" question #31
It looks like I need at least a 26 hp, a 5' bush hog, and a mmm would be ideal that i could leave on and cut lawn with.....sounds like best option other than buying two machines....

I admit I am not a fan of MMMs on tractors but would point point that for the money you would spend on a 26hp tractor, 5ft bush hog and a MMM you could probably buy a 30hp tractor with a 6ft flail that could do both jobs. Alternatively a 26hp with 5ft flail and riding mower for about the same bucks.

Anyone who is thinking of getting two mowers (bush hog and MMM or finish mower) should at least explore the world of flail mowers first. Lots to read about on TBN.

Yep, if I hadn't already just bought three new rotary cutters in the last year and a half, I would look at a flail in lieu of a rotary cutter, but don't like any type of rear mounted mower for lawn and sure don't want to ride a cheap riding lawn mower again, been there done that. Of course as always YMMV.
