I did find a 2004 Kioti DK45, 4wd, 45 hp, 38 pto hp, 429 hours, 3800-3900 pound tractor. Comes with a KL1470 FEL (quick attach I do believe) and a canopy. Looks really clean.

I signed up for and looked it up on The Official Tractor Blue Book ($99.00 ouch) and it gave a low-retail of $11,201 and a high-retail of $13,034. That pricing with no FEL nor a canopy. I would also have to factor in additional amount for condition of "Very Good (Add 5-10%): Well above average - low hours. Clean, properly maintained. No mechanical or cosmetic repairs needed. Maintenance schedule strictly adhered to. Equipped with extra cost options. Type of equipment in demand." All of which is applicable.

With that in mind, $13,500 seems very reasonable to me.

I already sent the specs/info/serial number to my banker. Going to see the tractor tomorrow, hour and a half from here. Bringing a dualie and 10,000 pound low-boy (?) trailer. If the tractor checks out, and I am bringing a friend of mine to test, inspect and drive it, I'll get my bank to wire-transfer funds, and be done with my tractor-search.

I really appreciate you guys pointing me in the right direction on my size/work requirements. It has made my search much more informed and made me confident in my "required specifications."

I hope this Kioti works out. Got about 3-4 weeks or so, and I'm gonna have to be moving bales.

A similar current model would cost you roughly $10K more. Seems like a good deal.

Well, I still have not had a return e-mail from the Craigslist guy on the New Holland. Sent him two now from my end. It looks and feels like Fall outside. My buying window is closing fast. Moving on....

GManBart - Exactly my thoughts. If it was properly maintained, that pre-owned tractor is just barely broken-in. 10K is a a significant chunk of change saved. I've got tons of other stuff to spend that money on.

foreman ETexas - J&K Sales in Flint, TX. Just south of Tyler. Spotted this tractor on TractorHouse dot com.


I've been on Craigslist every day for a couple months, and twice a day since I started this thread. The only thing in this Craigslist-area that has qualified so far has been that New Holland, and that was waaaaay further away. It would almost take an overnight stay to get down there and back.

Gonna have to take two (2) trips to get this tractor, but I'm only about 90 miles away. One to go down, check it out, and cut the deal with the dealer. Dealer invoices the Bank, I go by and sign paperwork, then the Bank wires the funds. Then I go pick up the tractor. The only way they'll do it.

I'm taking an old country-boy friend of mine to test-drive and inspect it. When I asked if he could drive a tractor, he laughed and put it "I've done worn out some tractors Shawn."

Leaving at 9am. I'll update tomorrow night.

Hopefully with a deal in the works.

I'm late to this game, but would like to add that if you can get R4s I would any day over the turfs. Kioti's in the 40 HP minimum class would get everything done for your task list and more. See my avatar. signature and other details at the bottom of this post. I work 25 acres in VT with 2 large ponds, horses, goats, a steer, chickens, ducks, dogs, woods, swampy land and TONS of rocks/boulders- hey- it's New England!:shocked:
I would look carefully at the model- I think the Kioti you 'missed' was the ds series and it is NOT the same as the DK, it's sort of a cross between the CK and DK series, if I'm not mistaken. There is an RX series too, and it is newer than the DKs, and bigger than them, from the one I saw a while back.
I'd consider using a wire type electric fence instead of going with barbed wire- if possible. Way less effort than endless post holes and some styles can be 4' high or more if needed. A neighbor has a very high fence for his Llamas. You can use solar powered if too far from electric source.
You've got a lifetime of work ahead of you from the sounds of it- so I would also suggest a new tractor for your needs. Peace of mind with a warranty, and if for some reason you do decide to trade or sell and buy another tractor- leave this possibility open in the thinking process, then you have something you've owned/maintained since new, plus service records to show a buyer. Forget about the trailer and just focus on the tractor. The trailer is a separate issue and should not determine what tractor you need/get.:2cents:

Picked up the DK45 w/FEL and the 3-prong hay-fork for both the front and rear. The front is definitely a quick-attach system for the implements.

It was not a barn, nor probably even a lean-to, kept tractor. It looks like a nine-year old tractor. However, the hours are stupid-low, engine bay clean, fired up, and I drove it around the lot, played with the joystick for the loader. Felt like a lot of power. Beastly machine.

I gotta throw down 15% for the bank to carry my note, sign some paperwork, and done deal. The bank will wire the money to Noonday.

You input is appreciated, and a new tractor would have been terrific. However, I just could not justify the extra cost of brand-new, with our current budget considerations for the overall farm. I've got a bazillion things to do and too many things to spend money upon.

I'll consider the electric fencing as an option. Maybe I'll try it on a section and see how I like it.

The trailer is now a borrowed trailer behind a borrowed truck. Skipping that purchase altogether for the moment.

Off to the bank in the morning.

Nice get! Sounds like what you need and I can understand the need/want to save $ for a farm, especially with a bzillion things to do on it.
Show us pics, and we'll get you setup with a few extras we know work with these tractors.
BTW, my next door neighbors, friends and renters of my flip property use exclusively the wire and nylon fencing route and move it around periodically on my place to graze their horses, beef steer, and goats.
A small section would be good to try, then expand if you like it. You can go two or three strands, depending on need for height and animals to be contained.
Look at my Igland GR-20 log grapple and mod# 4001 winch for your woods work. Both work well in combination. I use them to fell, drag and burn pile stack/stuff/load onto an existing pile.

BTW, I'd ask them to load the tires before you pick it up, you're going to need the ballast for your work with the bales.

Great news! Glad you were able to finally find something you like! How are you getting it back to LA?

I almost bought a 2009 5075E with 380 hours from J&K (Noonday) guys, but went new instead.

They were the ones who bought my 2007 5103 from the local JD dealer you drive by on the way down 155 to J&K's lot. Did you see it on the lot there? I hope she finds a good new home.

My grandmother lives there in Tyler, we have to stop everytime and walk there lot. Been to couple of there auctions also. From what I know, they have some kind of deal with a lot of dealers when they get a trade-in...
