Any dual Cat1/Cat2 quick attach hitches?

Richard, my Caroni flail has Cat1 spacing between lower pins but Cat 2 HEIGHT on the upper pin.

Had to make a couple "drop links" from 1/2" FB so I could use it on the Cat 1 QH. Weird... Steve

Yep. I've saw that several times. I believe that's why most CAT I QH's have adjustable top links. There's just too much discrepancy.

In the CAT II world it seems they are more standard height. Which is why almost, if not all, CAT II QH's have a fixed top link height.

BukitCase, your chart shows standard implement 3 point hitch dimensions (not quick hitch compatible.)

Bruce

bcp,

This is interesting... thank you. I had read that the Cat2 had a bigger pin spacing than the Cat1 as well. It makes sense that that is true, but the QH standard for both has the same pin spacing.

If I could count the times I've saw conflicting information concerning QH's........

Then throw into the mix the variations by manufacturer, even if just a slight variation.

So, you get an implement maker that sets their pins on the wide side. Then you get a QH manufacturer that sets their hooks on the narrow side. End result, no fit.

I've modified and/or built several pieces of equipment to fit a QH. I always leave "slop". First and foremost reason is it simplifies hookup. Secondly, I avoid changing the QH and not having a fit anymore.

If the user has the ability to build or modify his implements I believe the QH to still be the best choice. If not, then the Pat's comes into play. Or a tractor with extendables and manually hook up each time.

When I buy an implement I tend to keep it. So it's best for me to simply modify them until they fit the QH I'm using.

Bruce, I'm aware that pdf didn't say anything about quick hitch, and it was obvious to me that Caroni doesn't even TRY to make their flails QH compatible - I think most people with non-QH mowers just use the toplink extensions and manually hook up. Another "fly in the ointment" with Caroni is they make their lower draw pins "floating", and unless you store the flail on a fairly tall pallet this puts the hitch too LOW for either of my older tractors to get under them.

For that implement I will eventually re-make the lower inserts so they're fixed, and to get rid of the extensions on the toplink tower I'll mod both my HF QH's like the Priefert top link.

There was a common saying among the "tech types" I worked with for decades - "The wonderful thing about STANDARDS is that there are so DANG MANY OF THEM..."

Richard, I'm in complete agreement with your methods - I have O/A, plasma, stick, MIG and TIG, metal cutting bandsaw(s), zip disks, air saws, sawzalls, drill presses, milling machine, mag drill, etc, and a SERIOUS case of "stubborn-itis", so eventually I WILL win (just not TODAY )

Gotta go, need to finish the pump replacement on the old 580B before it gets hot again... Steve
