Just bought a 325-D 4WD With 2,500hrs and the Guardian Recycler 72" deck.

Now begins the desperate search for the 2760 Flail Mower attachment.

I'm not sure about that machine, but some ran an automatic over running clutch to engage the 4wd. If you dig through the parts manuals you might find a different year that was full time 4wd. It might be a simple clutch swap.

The 455 is an EXTREMELY heavy unit. The 4WD was only meant to help climb mild grades without turf damage (10-15% slope on wet turf, etc.).

Yes, I have four Groundsmasters with the Mitsubishi 3 cylinder diesel engine and a front hydrostatic transaxle.

First one is a 1990 322D, I got in September of 2004,

Second one is a 1993 325D, I found on eBay in May 2005. Bought it for mowing, with the 6' deck.

Third one is a 1994 325D, from eBay in May 2008. Parts machine, with a good recycle deck.

Fourth one is a 1996 325D, from Bell Equipment, Stillwater, OK. Bought it in March 2009, for the 4WD and newer recycle deck.

These are amazing machines, Xfax...

Did I see you post elsewhere, mowing some pretty healthy brush and deep weeds with one of these?

No that was probably the Toolcat: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/attachments/367765-hd-ss-mower-tractor-loader.html#post4521711

Here are some recent pictures with the 6' recycler deck on the 18 degree side of the dam.

WOW.... I'd never thought a Recycler would mow that without choking.

What blades do you use?

My recycler was choking on 4in lawn, but I had significant belt slip. Ordered a new belt yesterday. Should be running full tilt on Friday.

Wow! I have a recyler deck, but apparently I've never put it to the test. I was going to buy a different mower for next year when I know I will have some deep stuff to mow. Not so much now

--------------
Some type of "Gator" blade, with the teeth on the top. Bought them too long ago to remember the brand or where I got them.

Did you get my PM, sent yesterday?

On a related note, I also have a 1996 Toro 223D Groundsmaster. It seems the right axle tube has come out of the hydrostat maybe 1/16" Enough that you can see it by eye.

The hydrostat is leaking around the tube. I have not looked up any repair manual or anything yet.

Can anybody give me a heads up on what to expect?

It is leaking about 1 quart per 5 acre mowing

Yes, I did. Thanks for the info, as I still haven't had any luck finding a compatible flail mower.

I'm glad you told me about the Gator blades. If they've lasted you long enough to forget the brand (Oregon) while mowing that kind of material, I'll DEFINITELY buy them. I started to order them yesterday... but every review I found ended up with the owner going back to OEM high-lift blades.

I'm still waiting to hear back from Peruzzo, to see if their Scorpion 160 is available for my Toro. I REALLY don't want to sell it to buy a Kubota or John Deere... as that seems to be the only traction units compatible with aftermarket flail mowers. God knows I can't afford a New Holland or Hustler.

The axle tube, or the axle itself? The tube is flange mounted by several bolts, so there should be no space at all.
