Anybody else ever have DPF issues? Mine is beeping and won't regenerate.

My 1742 didn't automatically regenerate. Now it is showing 7 bars. I tried to manually regenerate it today but it just beeps and light flashes. Reading through these posts it's looking like I have to get it reflashed. When a person pushes the manual regeneration button is there an indication that it is actually doing it? I did as the manual said and then let it run for an hour while I was doing something else and came back to it and it was still beeping and flashing. Still 7 bars on the soot meter. 260 hours only.

LOCK THE BRAKES ON. Then push the button . Once it's doing its thing go ahead and use it while it burns itself clean. NO Set Brake, no manual regent start!

Right after I posted my issue, I found another thread that mentioned the park brake has to be locked on. It did its thing and regenerated for me. Burned all the soot out and dropped the meter to zero bars. There is an indication that it goes into regeneration mode. The engine speeds up on its own to about 1800 rpm and stays there until completed. Then it returns to low idle. Since this helpful step wasn't in the owner's manual, I wrote it in so that whomever runs this unit will know the park brake must be applied.

Min just got to regenerating again today and I interrupted it as I was doing something. Big mistake as I couldn't get it to finish. I let it go all the way down to 1 bar while refueling reved it up past where it was and popped the brake. Damned thing started beeping again and when I pushed the button the gauge shot right back to reading fully stuffed.:thumbdown:
Then since I was trying to hook up my backhoe before it poured so got to,listen to that horrible beeping. All the while. Couldn't let it run that fast or move for that matter doing regen . Tomorrow going to unhook the battery and see if it clears. This is like 7 or 8th regen for me and I had a similar issue on e before. All the others allowed me to keep in running it doing what I was doing till it finished.

So your system was beeping but never it engaged the regeneration cycle automatically? How many bars did your soot indicator show?

My manual for my 1736 says the ECU senses the amount of particulate matter (PM) and when a specified amount is reached it will increase the temperature diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) as part of the regeneration cycle. It also says this will occur when the soot gauge shows five or six bars.

It goes on to say, manual regeneration is necessary when the soot gauge shows seven or eight bars and the DPF light will illuminate and the alarm will sound when it reaches this level. Then as you indicated it says to park the tractor, put the tractor at idle, and operate the DPF switch. The regeneration will take 15 - 40 minutes.

My buzzer was sounding for a couple of days and I tried to reset the soot thingy ,but forgot how .......got it to work today by setting parking brake and pushing both the soot button and the gauge cluster black button , tractor reving around 1900 to 2000 .
Oh Yeh my Tractor is a Massey Ferguson 1736 .

Be sure to set that a break or it won稚 work. It痴 just like pairing your cell phone to the car you can稚 do anything until it痴 sitting in park
