tractors?
Which do you prefer? Why?
Are there chores better suited for one type over the other?
Does one type of control have any real advantage over the other?
Does one or the other require more maintenance or adjustment?
Is it weird changing your driving habits as you swap from one tractor to another? (Maybe even experience a momentary lapse as you are driving one tractor, but think you're on the other tractor and do a Dummy?)
Perhaps the most important question... which one does the wife prefer?

Come on folks, fess up!

I don't have both now. But I had a JD4200 with twin pedals for about 9 months before I bought my tractor. I have a B2410 with a kind of Treadle pedal (pedal in front for forward, in back under your heel for reverse) When I had the Deere I liked the twin pedals. Now that I have the Bota I like its set up. After the first couple hours you get used to what you have and don't notice the difference. I don't like the treadle pedal where the whole pedal is exposed, (like the BX23, the smaller NH and the MF) only because I have extra wide feet and it was never comfortable tilting my foot to work around it.

Before I bought I focused a lot on pedals. Now I realise it doesn't matter that much. You get used to what you have and it soon becomes second nature.

I don't think I could go back and forth. Every once in a while with the Deere I would hit the wrong pedal. Particularly when I was turned around watching something behind the tractor. It doesn't happen with the Bota, but I know I would hit the wrong pedal if I got back on the Deere.

My mom, 70 loves her hst kubota. She had stoped using tractors a few years ago and I wanted to ger her back out and enjoying things.

She protested and said she did not want to spend yada yada. Well I bought her one and now she uses it around an hour a day 5-6 days a week. It worked great for her. She now would never even think of being with out it.

I have both.
My Kubota B2910 has the Treadle. I have no problems and it works great.
My JD F735 has Twin pedal. After spending a hour cutting grass my right ankle is sore.
As others have mentioned, it is a personal thing. For some the Treadle is great For others, Twin pedal works. I injured my right ankle many years ago. It does not like the way my foot is positioned to go forward on the F735.

My wife will not get on either piece of equipment unless there is no other choice. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I have both, prefer two pedals to one but you do make less mistakes with the tredal. Not really that big of a deal.

I have both. I have a JD mower, Its a zero turn type. It has the twin pedal hydostatic drive and my Kubota L3830 HST. I do feel that I can "smooth out" the dips and bumps easier on the single pedal design because of my foot arangement. It's hard to explain other then to say I think it's more a less a learned response. On occasion I do hit reverse instead of forward or vice versa on the mower but even that is quickly remedied. Other then that, I have yet to understand the fuss about it. You should be able to quickly accomodate to either. In short, not a big deal.

I don't think that I'd want to use the twin pedals very long without cruise control (e.g. the 2210). My 4010 has it.

I've driven right hand and left hand cars back and forth for a number of years. Got to where I'd switch and not have any problems at all. Suspect it would be the same with 2 tractors, if they were different.

Main problem I have is wanting to use that big joy stick for forward/reverse. Takes me back my youth when our Allis had a big hand clutch sticking up there.

I have both. For mowing under and around my trees, when I'm frequently backing up and maneuvering, I much prefer the treadle. My larger (of the two) tractors has two pedals, but I mostly use it for forward-motion work with the bush hog and box blade so they don't bother me. If I had to choose only one or the other, it would be a treadle arrangement.

At least you get more seat time that way!

The one time I used the twin pedal design, I almost drove my neighbor's JD into a tree by hitting forward instead of reverse. Now, I only had limited experience with it, so take that for what it's worth. On the other hand, I've had no trouble getting acclimated to my treadle pedal.
