Anybody know how to build a snow pusher box?

I know that just down the road from me there is what appears to be complete Fisher plow assembly sitting on a snowmobile trailer by the edge of the road for sale.

I know several folks have adapted these for their tractors, I'd sure like to some day.

Thanks for all your replies, if anyone knows of anybody wanting to get rid of a old snow plow, please let me know, i need a plow desperatley! I have looked everywhere!

Two ideas for you:

1- I had an old 6.5' Meyer blade and I needed a new "face" for it. For the steel and to have it rolled was under $60 for brand new steel

2- I was cutting up things to scrap out and I cut up a water heater. Find an old tank and 2 hours of welding and a torch you would have a down and dirty pusher blade (if you can come up with the end plates) for cheap!

Good luck and post pics!

Thats how I did mine. It wasn't hard or expensive. I think I have around $500 invested in mine That includes buying the used plow, the quick tach plate from Bobcat and paying the welder to put it together.

Here is a neat snow pusher. Seems like you could adapt a box blade to push snow. Add some pucks to the back, to set the height, and run it in float mode. The second picture has wings and is a box bld front and back.

Snow, what a bunch of extra work for you guys up north, but I guess you all love it.

I do enjoy the seat time. It is fun pushing snow around with the front blade even when it's real cold, you just have to dress appropriatly. Although a full cab would be real sweet. A hot cup of coffee and some tunes from the ipod. That would be nice !
But for the most part and to be real honest. Winter Sucks ! Plain & Simple
I would trade my pine trees, coffee and snow for palm trees, pina-coladas and sand anyday. The older I get the stronger my dislike of winter gets.

Wow, looks like you even used the head gear from Fisher! I have never seen that on the end of loader arms before.

It took me a few minutes but I found the original thread from 2003 when I had the plow built. There you will find a few pictures showing the plow setup being fabricated by the welder.

The old thread was enough to jog my memory and I now remember that I was given the Fisher head gear by the local JD dealer who also was a Fisher dealer. The head gear came off a truck that had been in an accident. The truck got a new plow frame and head gear and I salvaged the old head gear from their scrap pile.
The plow blade was purchased from a local man who had it sitting around for years. The quick tach plate, as I mentioned came from the local Bobcat dealer.
I gave all 3 componants to the welder and he did the rest.

Why did you need the head gear for a tractor application?

How much do you have to plow? I live just west of you and I would agree front blade is nice but a rear blade my get you by till you find what you want. I found a blade that went on a front mount mower that I welded a quick attach plate to it and it works very well for back filling trenches. As for snow use to have a trucks with a plows, ATV and ag tractor with rear blade but never smiles so much as when we got rid of snow contracts.
Swing by local lawn & garden shops and keep eye out for old meyer blade as they are cheap and easy to put on a tractor.

I will look behind the barn I might have old plow thats fits your needs.
