Chipper Anybody using a Liberty Chipper?

I have a Liberty chipper, takes up to 6", and I am impressed with it. I have used it often and have not experienced any major problems. When it arrives there is some minor assembly required. The instructions say that it is checked prior to shipment - not mine. There were three Zerk's missing and a couple of other parts needed adjusting/tighten. When I called the AZ office they promptly sent me a bag of Zerk's, which are in mm. I also thought a part that need adjustment was broken and received the part free of charge from China. I now have a spare part in case it does break. For me this is a very nice chipper the the $. If you do purchase one be sure to check it to make sure all the parts are tight, greased and oiled.

moot, fyi its the law that if a company charges your credit card the item must be shipped within 2 days. if its out of stock or something like that then ithey must wait until it comes in and is within 2 days of shipping then charge the card.

Thanks for the info... Mill Depot charged my card on 11/6/08, I did not hear from them until I said the magic words 'charge back'... that was 10 days later.
On 11/20/08 I was told that 'there was a hold up in manufacturing but they are back on schedule now' and 'hopefully' the blades would be shipped on 11/26/08.

There was no offer of any kind to make up for the delay. I will try Tennessee Saw and Knife (tskgrinding.com) even though they charge more... if they can come through, the extra cost will be worth it...

bty; laws are fine but finding a way to enforce them is problematic...

I have a Liberty chipper, takes up to 6", and I am impressed with it...

Are you talking about the WC-8? Have you actually put a 6" diameter piece of timber into it?

... I have used it often and have not experienced any major problems...

Have you experienced minor problems that are ok?

... When it arrives there is some minor assembly required...

Your are a better man than I... getting the main unit on the base was quite a task for me... just glad I had the FEL, chain and patience.

I have a Liberty chipper, ... When I called the AZ office they promptly sent me a bag of Zerk's, which are in mm...

Very fortunate for you that you got an answer 'promptly'. I called many times, to many numbers, and was lucky to get a human voice.

... I also thought a part that need adjustment was broken and received the part free of charge from China. I now have a spare part in case it does break...

Could you share a description of what part?

...For me this is a very nice chipper the the $...

Can't argue the $ part... nice is relative to what?

OK... I am glad you (flgeorge) are happy with your chipper and wish you the best. For everyone else out there I will let you know that I have not gotten any responses from KPX / Liberty about the broken blade or replacement parts. Am now in the process of having to tap new thread for bolt (on front access plate) that was stripped and vibrated loose. I'm sure I'll find more 'minor' problems...

We bought an 8" Liberty Chipper last year and the thing has been terrific for us. We do all sorts of chipping and it has held up to quite a beating. The company has always been helpful and prompt in their communication, support, and what not. Just wanted to spread the positive since my experience has been good. I run it on a JD 790, by the way.

This is a sturdy PTO Driven Wood Chipper. I've been using it on my JD4310. I'm happy and they even gave me a free blade set. I'd recommend it to anyone who has clean-up ahead.

any body bought a Liberty chipper lately? we ordered 4 May with delivery set for 5 June - delayed to mid June and now after 20 June. had to rent a bearcat to cover committments.
Supposedly you find that liberty uses a better shaft to the tractor and substitutes a solid drive shaft for the Jimna hollow shaft. a better grade of bolt used and etc. anyone see this for true that has taken delivery this year?
Google "Jimna chipper - liberty" and they well say the chipper is a modified Jimna. more negative we find now than positive on liberty with lack of response on problems and failure to communicate.

I am in my 4th year importing & selling the Jinma Chipper. All of them so far has had a solid drive shaft (pto shaft). I have not had any problems with the bolts with the exception of sometime I find them not tight enough.

I have a brand new Jimna 8" chipper. I had to shorten the drive shaft for it to fit on my tractor. It is definitely hollow.
