Anyone else seeing signs of an early winter?

We got our first snow of the season today, about an inch of wet, sloppy snow. Within a couple of hours it was all melted since the ground it still pretty warm.
Sent my sister who lives in the UP, a text that we got snow before she did this year.

The slugs have a thicker coat of fur this fall.

It is mid October and the geese have just started moving by my place en mass. This means an average beginning of winter here, at least that's what it means to me. For me that means I can probably expect snow that is likely to stick around before the end of December. We might get snow before then but nothing that will stick around for long. The geese are never wrong.

now yes ... there is a foot of snow on the ground, for mid-October its early, it will melt by the end of the week but still...

Yesterday on way downstate between Baraga and Marquette. county and state plows we're out in full force saw one car in ditch, no cruise control on that trip for me lol. Supposed to get more today.

Talked to my sister who lives near Deerton, 30 miles or so east of Marquette, and she said they missed all the snow but had lots of wind.

We missed it here in Houghton, which is fine by us! Just a dusting that's now largely gone. I hear Ironwood got some.
