I thought about trading up. I decided I would not come out real well on the deal. Over time I have decided what I have is good, I needed time to get use to the HST and how to use the unit. I know there are probably those on there that have traded up.

Get comfortable with the one you have. Get real use to it. Then make a decision. Sometimes smaller is better. Too big, you may be dis-appointed in the limitations imposed by size for your applications.

Oh Yeah...Been there and done that several times. First I bought a Ford 1720 and then three or so years later I bought a off lease 1920 for an additional $5000. A few years after that, it cost me another $5000 to get up to a 2120 without a loader. Absolutely no regrets. Later bought a used 1720 with a loader as a second tractor and three years later traded that on a Deere 3520 with loader. The 2120 is perfect for use with my Kuhn disc mower on hillsides as it is very stable and powerful. Also great with my Alamo flail mower which takes lots of power to operate smoothly.

Tractors can be a little light yachts (never had one)..you keep trading up to a larger one until you get one too big so be careful.

Yes, I traded, in that I sold my tractor and bought another within 18 months. Loved my original Kubota BX1860 and it did fine for mowing, plowing snow, and utility chores, but couldn't cut the mustard on field work for my growing organic gardening. Had to make a trade for more ground clearance, so went with the B2320 and it was a smart move.

I did NOT trade, as in trade in. That would have been a $2000 out of pocket hit. No way. Sold the front hydraulic plow in late winter because folks were desperate for plows last winter and then sold the tractor later in summer. Craigs.

That was real normal in the area when I first started working at the Kubota dealer. Customers would buy a B-series, then a couple of years later trade up to a small L-series, and then to a big L. It usually came down to them not knowing what they needed (or had no idea how many things they could or would use it for) and budget. It wasn't the boss selling them the wrong tractor, their needs just changed the longer they had a tractor.

I sold my Ford 1710, a great little machine, and bought the 40 horse Massey I always drooled over when I was selling them. If I had to do it over, I would have kept the Ford and (eventually) bought the Massey. The 1710 was an ideal physical size for a lot of chores.

I thought about it but decided to take the money it would have cost to upgrade to a larger tractor and decided to upgrade the one I have (Grapple, remote spools for TnT). Glad I didn't go through with the upgrade since the new tractor was way too heavy for my needs.

JT is the poster child for this thread :D

Heck, I don't need anything bigger, I just have a bit of tractor fever. Someone want to loan me their B3300 or small L for a few weeks so I can play a bit? LOL

Actually, if what I had were much bigger physically, I wouldn't be able to do what I'm doing with it. A tooth bar would help out tremendously, but after this chore is done, I wouldn't need it anymore. Anyone want to loan me their 4' tooth bar for a couple months? :)

Chopping and changing all the time as our crops and farming practices/size change but we never trade as you just give it to dealers, always sell privateley and buy at auctions .

Yes.....yes I have. About 7 years ago I bought a BX2200 FEL MMM for a life time mower and kept it for one year (first year of tractor ownership) traded to a B7800 FEL and bought a BX1500 MMM. Laid low for 3 years with these. PAID OFF!! Traded B7800 to L3240 HST FEL and BX1500 to a BX2350 MMM. L3240HST to big rarely used it so traded to a B3200 FEL, BX2350 abrupt stop in reverse so traded it to a BX2660 FEL MMM within the year.Traded B3200 to a F2880 72" deck and traded the BX2660 to a BX25. Also bought a Gas Kubota mower for mowing rental property and sold it and bought a F2680E 60" deck. Recently bought a RTV1140. Is that 12?
Fist one I had no idea what I was buying. 2nd/3rd knew what I was buying and used them for three years till paid off and then bought to big and had to come back down in size and then job needs changed as work progressed and then moved to point of mainly mowing (F's) and maintaining acres with the BX25 great all around smaller work horse. RTV is for Grand kids time (spending quality time with them) and some work but BX25 would do about all of the work with a bit more time.
0% interest and getting older instead of younger has been behind alot of the trading. I figured I'd been somewhat frugal most of my life and what was I saving it for so spend at a level I can afford and enjoy it now. Rather spend it and spend time with my Grands than to leave them cash instead of memories. They'd spend the cash quick and couldn't remember much about Grandpa or the cash in a few weeks or months.
The BX2350 caused me to give alot of consideration to keeping something that would cause me irritation every time I used it for how many years??? Decided it was stupid for me not to trade it for something that would bring a smile instead of a scowl for how many extra dollars a month.
Life's short guys. Hang on and save that money if that's what's the most important thing or smile and say I traded/sold and lost some money but now I want to get out on my equipment. If the money lose will keep you awake at night, don't do it.:)

I don't do crops or farming. I about always trade because I like giving it to my dealer, he's a nice guy and needs to get money to support family and employees who I also like. I never buy at Auctions, well not tractors because they don't usually have 0% interest for 60 months and they don't usually have Kubota hats.:D

We own tractors from 23 to 85 HP and a regular need for them on different properties. If we didn't I would keep the smaller ones and rent when needed.

This is a very wise statement. I've been up and down and somewhat in between in sizes and projects. Big or rather long projects need consideration of buying bigger but short projects might be better off renting or calling in a specialized machine. I've used hired specialized machines several times.
I'm not a farmer which is a totally different user. I'm a 5 acre home landscaper and land conquerer (me and my Kubotas).:)

I went from a BX24 to a B2920. I didn't need it at all but I really wanted it. The payment went up $40/month (60 months vs 42). More money total I know but I am much happier with the new tractor.
