If you like big bore stuff try a .50 caliber BMG. A fellow at the rifle range was kind enough let me shoot his bolt action Barrett .50 caliber BMG a couple of times. It was an experience I will never forget. The muzzle blast was so fierce that the sideways blast from the muzzle brake blew coats and ammo boxes (full of ammo) from the two shooting benches on either side. It didn't that kick that much. It weighed over 30 pounds.

If you like firepower this is the place to go to see it. Usually a couple of mini-guns (.30 caliber, 6000 rounds per minute). A two pounder black powder Gatling gun, a couple of twin automatic .50 caliber Browning machine guns, countless fully automatic assault weapons. seems no one has even offered an legit answer to your question for a scope look into a leupold 1x-4x variable power scope it is designed for the big bore high recoil guns, being a lupold they are not cheap but guns,scopes,ammo are like tools and tractors you typically pay for what get!

Apparently I have offended you? Sorry, that was not my intent. I think you have gotten some pretty decent "water cooler" answers here, however, I second your suggestion about visiting a real gun board though to get the real scoop on this particular firearm. It's not a real popular caliber because of it's price and the fact that most folks don't go on safari hunts. JMHO, FWIW.

Rifleman had a nice write up on a real famous custom .416 rifle recently cant think of the owners name right at this moment anyway plus the rifles can be pricey is what I gathered also since most were custom built special purpose rifles.

Yes my experience as well clears the benches around you and you dont stand anywhere except behind the shooter that muzzle blast is unbelievable!

I shot a Barrett a few times which is heavy like you said and didn't kick much worse than a 10ga on steroids and then later I shot a Bohica .50 BMG AR style rifle that weighed about 14#.

Ouch about 3-4 rounds thru that bad boy and that one broke me of shooting these hard kicking bastards no more for me its about like stopping a Mack truck coming at you at 50 mph with your bones. And thats on the shooters end the other end would be devastating to say the least!

the table clearing shooting event reminds me of going to a predominately semi-automatic range and bringing out a subgun or similar and raining brass all down one side of the shooter lane.. ( guilty.. )
