I know it's a crazy question but, I'm a crazy kind of guy..  I have brand new turfs on my BX right now but, I have the original set of R-4's in the shed.

I was thinking of maybe putting the R-4's in the back and leaving the turfs on the front. Didn't like the front end vibration of the front R-4 tires on my 150 ft asphalt driveway.

Thinking on the back R-4;s might dig in and improve off road traction. They are the same size rims so, can't see where mixing would be a problem in 4x4 mode. What do you guys say??

Hmmm guess I better wait until I'm sure then, thanks...;)

If the tire height is the same, than no problem! I know on my B7500 the tractor sits higher on the turf tires than the Ag tires. If you got the other tires handy match them up side by side, a board on top with a level on it helps, if it don't give the tire sizes on the sidewall of the tire!!

Ya, I'll have to check it out this weekend thanks..;)

One of my bx1500s has turfs the other one has AGs.

I had mine like that for a short while when shifting from R4s to turfs.
The rears were loaded and it took me a little while to figure how I was going to handle ~1,000 lb wheel/tire/rimguard assemblies.
If you don't use 4WD on good traction surfaces there shouldn't be a problem with lead/lag.
If you use 4WD (in sand or dirt) and find you have a problem keeping a straight line the chances are that the circumference of the front tires is too small, i.e. you have lag (bad).

Use the level method, the tire sizes might be the same, but the tread heights might be different. Same would apply if you would mix old and new tores from the front to the back. You want them to be in the same size ratio when using 4wd. If you don't you will either be pushing the front or pulling the back, either one is not good.

Guess I better not take the chance. Just got done with a front axle repair. What a pain in the ars... don't want to go that route again. Thanks for the input...;)

On my BX2200, I change from turfs to bar tires in the front for winter. Rears get chains.

The bar tires are much more useful in the snow.

The circumference is the same for my particular sizes.

this probably won't make any difference because 1) you probably have 4wd and 2) you probably have power steering. But for anyone like me I had turfs all the way around on my no 4wd and non PS L2500. I could only afford rear R-1's at the time and left the turfs on the front. Eventually I put 3 rib tires on the front. Felt like I got power steering all of a sudden. About 10 times easier to turn.

I eventually sold all my turfs.

Get a cheap seamstress tape to measure the circumference of both tires. If they are the same or very close you should be ok. You could try a tape measure but it'll not be as accurate or easy.

*============Why not I thought it was 12 inches to the foot for either one?=============

Cause a metal tape deosn't bend as well or could kink differently when wrapping around a round object.

You could also check the tire manufacturers website for the specs on the tires. They usually post things like circumference based on size.

Thanks megaboz, LBrown obviously doesn't always think before he types, trying to make someone else look stupid and only doses it to himself.

I'm sure it was an honest mistake. Most everyone if not everyone usually has valuable information that they freely take time to donate, even if it might have been answered in a previous thread. This is one of the few forums I have been on where almost all the people are civil and not judgemental. Just give them a chance. It is very easy to mis-read people's intentions in a text only universe.

*It was just a joke .
Sorry it was taken wrong.

That's the one thing that stinks about these forums, it is hard to make a joke without someone taking it the wrong way, flying off the handle, or jumping to conclusions. You know, sometimes it just feels like when I talk to my wife. I talk, she doesn't answer until the next day, then I get an ear full.

People need not to get all fired up so easily on these forums. I just did that "assume" thing, and we all know what that means. (BTW, that was a joke.:)) I only answered LBrown59 original statement. And hopefully I did that without being a butt.

Oh well, all is fair in love and war. Whatever that is supposed to mean.
