Buying Advice Anyone Regret buying a Tractor with a Cab?

I have two tractors with cabs, one is a IH 1066 with no A.C. Working in that tractor in the summer is like sitting in a tin can, noisy and hot.
My Kioti has a cab with A.C., I use it for lots of spray work and it's nice not having to worry about drift from the spray covering you. Not so great for mowing close to woods but there are so many more +++++. My wife was the reason I have a cab on the Kioti, I was leaning toward a backhoe, her advice was get the cab, you won't regret it, and she was correct.

we have had a cab for 34yrs as my dad was the 1st to buy a cab tractor in our area.but me i prefer an open station tractor.as i like to hear the equipment in case something tears up.now a cab is good if your working where ground bees are.

In fairness to those who prefer open cabs, I too miss my open tractor when the weather is perfect, and mother nature is on her best behavior.

I guess that's why I gave up motorcycles? If the weather is not perfect, I prefer to ride 'inside'. Perhaps someday Kubota will offer a hardtop convertible? :licking:

I regret not having traded for a tractor with cab sooner. I assumed my wife would ***** at me for spending the money but it turned out the opposite - I spend less time bugging her. I don't like the fact my cab is much louder than that on the 7720 Deere farm tractor I run on my cousin's farm but at least it is quiet enough I can listen to my radio at a comfortable level rather than using the hot noise canceling headphones when I drive tractor for my nephew. All of his tractors are old ones with no working air conditioners and really aggravate my tinnitus if I don't wear ear protection. Yes, I have to readjust mirrors frequently when working in the trees but at least my cab tractor has mirrors to adjust.

I have cabs on all my big tractors. My small one dont. I have driven 2 small tractors with cabs and can say without a doubt that I do not want a cab on a small tractor. Maybe its because I only use small tractors for short quick task. If I had to run one all day I might rethink my previous statement. Haha.

I was hoping for some feedback on if anyone regrets getting a tractor with a factory cab on it.. I really like the idea of being out of the weather.

I wish the cab available in Europe for my 4200 was available here when I bought my rig in 2001. I hate eating dust when using the loader, I hate having the wind blow crud all over me, I hate baking my butt off in summer. The few times I've used mine in winter, I absolutely hate freezing my butt off.

If you like being in the elements; more power to you; but this wimp wants his comfort.

well sounds like the original poster is looking for some honest feedback that says dont get a cab becuase it is fun sweating in the dust or fun freezing with snow in the face so he can save a few thousand bucks with not getting a factory cab. Well, you wont get an honest answer saying that it is better to have an open station. Even after market cabs are noisy and uncomfortable. Factory sealed cabs are the only way to go. They are very quiet and you can listen to music comfortably and take phone calls while you are in a nice cab with a/c and heat. Very nice. Aftermarket cabs only provide heat in the winter and are noisy and clunky. They are VERY hot in the summer too. Have had to deal with that junk in the past with machines on the jobsite. Terrrible experiences. Go with a facory sealed cab and you will be a happy camper

While I am sure you like your new factory cabbed 3720 recognize that there are some models where the cabs are not offered. Such was the case with the Deere 110tlb, so if you wanted a cab you had to add it afterwards. I ordered the 110tlb new and put the Laurin cab and Hammond hvac on it. Works great but is not as quiet as the 4520 with factory cab.

I can understand the ones with no a/c becuase even with the cab doors off, there gonna be hot in there during the summer.

True enough. The first summer with my Kubota B3030 HSDCC I tried taking the doors off the cab, thinking I wouldn't use the A/C much. Wrong idea. When summer kicked in I put those doors back on and started learning to love the A/C. Especially when brush hogging some tall grass in dry, dusty conditions.

I went from an open station machine to a Kubota Grand L cab. I also went from plowing snow in Sorels/ski pants/ski jacket/snowmobile helmet to jeans and a tee shirt. The next summer I was landscape raking in 90 degree weather - with the AC on and dust cloud outside.

As others have said all that glass requires more clearing and care in the woods. For me the trade off is worth it.
