J.J. Thanks for explaining the mig and gas setup. I really didn't plan on becoming a great welder. With lots of practice would just like to become good enough to make a few attachments and repairs if needed. Not only for my PT, but also for some of the other tractors I own. Johnny Bucket type stuff.

I'm thinking Flux Cored as in mostly thicker metals would be the ticket. Sounds like Bob’s Lincoln 135 might be just enough to get er done, after seeing some of the stuff he has made. That’s about what I had in mind. I’m sure your Lincoln 175 if more than enough welder and would make the job even easier. I’ll take yours and Toys advice and look around before I jump. Thanks ;)

Barry, All the Lincoln 135's that I looked at were 115/120 v.

Don't lincoln have one a little larger that still uses 120volts, I'm probably wrong about that though. Barry there are some good points also about a 110 unit like the 135 lincoln that jj mentioned say like being able to plug it into electric anywhere there is a 110 outlet versus having to find a 220 volt outlet as you mentioned in your post, but my heart is set on a 220 volt mig especially since I already have a 110 volt one and I usually don't sell any of my tools and also I have a generator that will run the 220 volt one.

Sounds like you and J.J. agree. Even though a 135 unit will probably get the job done. After buying one, sounds like you may regret you didn't go with the higher amperage larger 220 unit.

I would guess one would also have to factor in how much welding they plan to do, and for what uses they have in mind. As a hobby welder, not sure I need to go above a 140 Mig.

If you weld all of the time, or depend on it for your business then you need top of the line stuff.. I'm sure like with any type of equipment. Once you get into it you outgrow it and want to upgrade to something better.

I think the bigger message I'm hearing is, go brand name for less break down and problems. Toy, do you have any pic's or examples of things you have welded with the one you own now, as far as thicker metals?

Sounds like real good advice. Forget what I said earlier.
Mr. Bob, how are you liking your new setup?? Any examples of your lastest welding, other than the attachment plate ??

I just looked at my welder and it's a Lincoln 2175, which means it's 175 amps I think. Sorry for this error. Sounds like the 175 is a good choice.

I have not welded with the Henrob 2000 lately (or anything else). I am getting ready for my daughter's wedding on Aug 18 and that does not require much welding.
