What do you mean by "...option the tractor out with over size drive lines?" (or "spec'ing their tractors with heavier drive lines for heavy pulling," I assume you meant the same thing with both phrases.)
Yes they mean the same thing...

When you are going to be pulling extra heavy loads over and over, (like pulling pans) they (mfg.) spec. the tractor with larger axles and other parts all through the drive line. It's done for a reason and that is, they have too many drive line failures of std. tractors pulling those same loads...

IF you have stumps small enough to put your tractor in gear and it pulls the stump right out, that's one thing... BUT, that rarely happens, so it's a lot of backing up and moving around for more traction, and that's puts a huge stress on the entire drive line.

Eventually, you WILL find the weak link, and the ring/pinion is the weak link many times... All it takes is to chip a tooth this time, and then the failure can and will come later, probably when you aren't abusing the drive line, and then comes the part where the owner says, "I was just " " (you fill in the blank) and the rear end let go...

Like I already said above, I've seen this quite a few times, and some of those folks come here with similar stories...

I'm sorry Rob, but you asked if I was "going to weigh in on that." I am. None of that exists among "normal" utility tractor purchasing. You cannot go buy a tractor in any name brand line, spec it with larger axles and parts throughout the driveline, request and obtain an oversize driveline or a heavier driveline for heavy pulling. No such thing exists. Of course the dealer may steer you to a larger tractor, a heavier tractor, a different model with more capacity and heavier driveline. But within a given brand and model of tractor there is simply no such thing as an option to buy a stronger driveline. There may have been a case where you could do that 40 or 50 years ago -- I doubt it. We are talking 'normal' tractors here, not specialty machines, not over $100K a piece and not one of a kind specials.

This started in the context of Kubota tractors. In the context of attempted stump pulling. None of them up through the M6 series offer any optional heavier drive train in the "build your own" website nor as a dealer installed option.

I've been around a lot of years and seen a lot of things, but do not claim that I've never been wrong. If anyone can offer an example where a heavier, stronger drivetrain is sold as an option for some model tractor I would like to hear it. In other words, don't take my word for it, ask others. Show me one example. Name one model.

I need you guys to focus: I'm going in for total knee replacement Monday O Dark Thirty.

I forgot to tell the dealer to save all my old parts. If I pay for parts, I want the old ones; it's one of my things, deal with it.

Where you come in: Remind me next week to call them and tell them to save me the parts. Pretty freaking simple.

Ok, back to your .22 is good for elephants and Kubota has rear axle options discussion.......

Hey, good luck on that knee replacement, might as well get the knee and tractor fixed at the same time and save down time.
Got two replacement knees myself, both work as advertised. Don稚 skimp on the physical therapy.

I love your dry observations! We deserve every word of it. Hey FTG, GOOD LUCK on the knee ! I had one of mine replaced in 2013 and it has been trouble free and pain-free ever since. I will say that a knee replacement is tough & you will have some gut wrenching moments but it is worth it. My worst problem was that I could not sleep well for months. Every time I'd get to sleep something would bump it or I'd move and the pain would wake me up. A pillow between the knees is a huge help. By the way, if you are a biker or can comfortably ride a bicycle I strongly recommend it for rehab ! It is great rehab and you'll get back on your feet quicker that way. Don't waste too much time with the rehab people.

There is a means of getting a heavy duty power train. Take the Kubota Grand L for example. The top model is the L6060 but the same power train is used in lower horsepower models. I’m not sure where the cut-off point is but say it’s like a L4260. On that model you would have a HD power train by default side it’s designed to be L6060 capable.

Good observation and good buying consideration, certainly to keep in mind selecting models. But the point remains, you cannot order a heavier duty power train on a given model tractor than what comes with it.

I can make a pot of coffee and take a shower in about 10 minutes.

Ten minutes? Do you use water? Sounds like you've shaved that time down due to a lot of military tenure.

You TOTALLY missed the original point, so I'll walk away from this one....
