Posthole Digger Are augers universal?

I'm getting ready to drop $100 for new teeth and a fishtail so it got me wondering. Could I put the auger on a new digger if my old digger blew up?

Some auger bits have a 2 in round shaft.

some have square 2 in shaft.

Some have hex shaft.

You can also adapt almost anything.

3pt augurs are usually 2" round. I hear hydraulic skid steer augurs are usually hex. I guess round makes things act as an extra sheep pin, which is not a big of an issue when you have a relief valve on your hydraulics.

Better engagement on the hex too for handling the bigger augurs.
