The bleeding hearts do everything they can to influence the naive...they have it down to a science...
In general I think they tend to mean well but they absolutely cannot see the big picture and the damage they are doing...

Maybe you can keep politics out of this...

Was visiting an 88 yo lady yesterday. She was telling how she worked on the farm from 5 am to 5pm, later in evenings during school. Homework was done after the farmwork was done.

I grew up in a farming community, and a couple families had dairy farms. Now those kids worked!

And those kids would been very happy if they had milking robots, cleaning robots a and automated feeding.

I come from a long line of dairy farmers on both sides. A business of tremendous non stop work. With all due respect to my own family and the hard working dairy farmers of today,,,,, it is a business I would never go into.

Yep... I learned that fast spending time at my Grandparents family Dairy Farm... Mom had 4 cows to milk before and after school each day starting at age 8.

Time off is measured in hours and in a small Dairy community it is understood when events are planned.

Mom milked her last time when she went off to the city at age 18 to become a nurse... after she left they bought the first milking machine in part because she was no longer there.

We were on a tour over at Fair Oaks Farms (industrial dairy with something like 40,000 cows) and there was a tour bus with a bunch of Wisconsin dairy farmers and families. Almost to a T, they were talking about getting out of the small dairy business because of the economics of scale..... too much work for too little profit.

Dairy is getting destroyed right now due to low cost of dairy products. If possible, dairy farmers are diversifying for better margins.

After 7 generations my cousin shut it down... those that came before him worked their entire lives to make a go of it...

He found selling off land much more profitable... also rented out the dairy barn for income and enjoying his status as part of the landed gentry...

He was the oldest and never wanted to be a farmer... his younger brother was to take it over but passed away at an early age.

Of the three farms close together... only one is still in the Dairy business...

About the only way to not lose your shirt on dairy is to grow your own feed.
