I guess we're dinosaurs, but my wife and I don't even have cell phones. Except for having a phone in case your car breaks down, I really don't get cell phones. I have voice mail at work, and an answering machine at home. If someone leaves a message, I'll call them back, what's the big deal????? I really don't need to be getting calls when I'm in my car or in a restaurant or if I'm in a store. What's so important that I have to speak to someone right now??? We'll probably get Trac Phone for emergency use in our cars, but other than that, we don't want anything to do with cell phones.

And kids with cell phone drive me nuts. Last week, we had some city friends visit our farm with their 12 year old son. He played with his phone the whole time we were showing them the farm, he couldn't care less. When we pointed out a fox running across a pasture, he was still playing with his cell phone, and his father took it away from him. He told the kid that they came for a visit to see nature and the kid was just playing with his phone, The kid shrugged and started whining for his phone back.
It really annoys me when people can't even feign interest.

Looked at a Craigslist ad yesterday, said at the bottom, "Texts only, don't look at my emails or answer unknown calls."

What a joke. I couldn't contact him. Wouldn't want to, with that attitude. If you ant to sell something,it might just take a tad bit of effort on your part....

No choice here, no cell coverage, unless we walk up to the road. No cable on this side of the valley, so no cable. Stuck with the phone co, and slow dsl, but have a "magic jack" in the shop and all computers have skype accounts.

Exactly the same situation... yet only about 10 minutes by car from the steps of the State Capital and have been told there is a moratorium on cell towers so not an option...

I still have a land line and I use my cell phone to text my wife to bring me a cold glass of tea up to the shop occasionally.
Seriously, we have spotty cell coverage and my daughter and granddaughter live about 400' away so we have a 4-phone long range mobile land line phone system so we can contact our daughter via the intercom system and vice versa. It also gives her the ability to call 911 from a land line since she only has a cell phone.

I do not own a cell phone. I really have no need to be carrying one around, at least that is how I feel.
As for a land line, I gave up on the phone company 3 years ago. We where tired of having the phone ringing only to find another call center informing me of the latest thing that I just have to buy.
So, our internet it a wireless affair with a modem / antenna bolted to the house pointed at a tower. it gives us 2.5mb so, now we get our phone service through majicjack . Does that count as a land line? After all it is not connected to the phone lines, and it is not a cell phone but, at the same time it is wireless.
You tell me.

I have a company provided cell, the wife has a Motorola Razor, we have a land line, and Packet 8 VOIP line, I have a IP phone off of my system back at work over a VPN connection. Google Voice and Skype on several of the PC's, I have several 2 way radio's. Yeah we got it covered.:)

We had a landline, but got ride of the $50 a month for something I used once in 2 years to send a fax. We dont have access to a major carrier, so the price was twice as high as it was in town.

i got rid of the land line 3 years ago,and don't miss it one bit.
We have to drive a mill away from home to use our cell phone.
Not good in the winter on slick icy roads and a pain in the rear end all other times of the year.

No way could we get buy with out a land phone.

I would give up my cell phone before i gave up the land line.
