Argh! Another aerosol can gives up

It doesn't solve all the problem but a little HVLP sprayer sure make's life alot easier. I would estimate 1 quart of paint will cover as much as 20 rattle cans. You can find desired colors much eaiser and custom mix any you please. If you aren't sold on HVLP,rent one for a project and I wager you be be then. I paid around $300 for mine about 15 years ago and it surpassed my wildest expectations. I've done 3 "20 foot" car/trucks,a couple of tractors, countless wheels and impliments, house shutters, kitchen cabinets and a host of other things and never had a moment's trouble. NOW,having said that,I thourgly clean it after every use. My experince has been 90% of people fail to clean any painting tool as well as they should and that's what kill's sprayers and brushes.

I usually buy Rustoleum Self Etching Primer when I'm painting parts for projects or parts off my Kubota or JD. The ;ast can I had sputtered it last, so I went to my local hardware store in town, you know the type, been there since the 40s, with creaky wood floors, and has everything you ever need. But they didn't have it, so the next closest place is Harbor Freight. They usually have it in stock, but all they had was some off-brand stuff I'd never seen before. Picked up a couple of cans, figured I'd give it a try. First can shot paint out in a stream like a can of WD40, second can was completely DOA. %&&#*&%@ !!!!
So, I get back in the truck and head to Lowes, just a mile down from HF. They have plenty in stock, and it's $.50 a can cheaper than the HF crap, so I get three cans.
The Rustoleum stuff works perfectly.
Last time I'll buy off-brand paint.

I bought a bunch of HVLP gravity fed sprayers on sale at Princess Auto. Then tried to buy replacement filters which they don't have, so returned them no questions asked. Their moto, no sale is final til your satisfied. Works for me.

IT's funny. For all the paint cans I have thrown in the bon fire, actually a swollen can of beans made a bigger boom.

That's probably because the bean can was a lot thicker material and can build far greater pressures before failing.
The most impressive aerosol can explosion I ever saw was when I found a mostly full can of starting fluid along the road when I was a kid (one of the big 1960's cans, not the poncy little ones of today) with a broke off nozzle. It went into the fire of an old root cellar we were getting rid of, it rattled windows and threw up a big roiling orange mushroom cloud.

The funnest part is not knowiing when, or if, they will explode.
