The point of "soft-ride" or a hydraulic accumulator by any other name (its available on most larger tractors) is for carrying stuff and letting the loader bounce without bucking the tractor. Its not a relief system for the loader so you can go crashing into things.

You guys are going off on all kinds of tangents here... :p

The fact remains that I've got a tractor that broke in half while using the factory installed loader to lift snow. I wasn't pushing trees. I wasn't crashing. I wasn't going full speed with a load in the bucket. I was using the tractor in a way that most reasonable tractor owners/operators would think that a tractor should be more than capible of withstanding.

In my humble opinion, lifting a little snow should not be able to break the engine. I've lifted much heavier things with it.

Still waiting. It's at the dealer while they try to figure out how to prevent me from being bent over trying to fix a 300 hour old tractor with a broken engine block.

[[[The crack very likely started much earlier from an imperfection at a critical point in the casting.]]] It progressed slowly, finally weakening the connection to the degree that the relatively light work you were doing at the time caused the abrupt snap as it failed fully. Thats usually the way it happens. Its not what you were doing. Its all that you have done, combined with the latent defect that served as the starting point for the crack.

I wish you the best of luck. Greg

Reminds me of the wife asking me to open up a jar that she couldn't open. I try and try, finally give up and looking defeated, hand it back to her telling her "it cannot be opened". Then she opens it with her fingertips. Same thing with the tractor, when it's ready it's ready.

After a while people get to know eaach other's personalities from there postings. And don't forget the pictures!!!

Whrn you see a person posting year after year with pictures of his/her machine(s) in operation at least I tend to believe them . when a person drops in with no prior history and makes some claims with no backup- all bets are off.

A story of a split in half tractor with no pictures and no context is worth nothing.
