Thanks to all for the input. I closed the deal today for a new rc100 with forestry package and fecon head. The sales rep said I was getting a pressurized cab with this unit. He said he knew they were coming out with one but was not expecting it this soon. I will take possession by the first of the week. I have a new subdivision with twenty lots along with roughly 12 more jobs to do. Thanks again.

Hey Mike.

Congradulations, Congradulations, Congradulations!!! I'm getting excited for you just typing this. We expect pictures of the newest family member as soon as she gets here. A pressurized cab... That's a new one to me also. A very useful addition to say the least. Sound like your timing is perfect.

Good job on the work you have lined also. I think you have catching up to do and you haven't even started..

We'll keep you posted on a few little things to keep an eye on to insure it runs in tip top shape.

I'm happy for ya buddy. I hope your business does well. Robbie

Just make sure you keep that head close to the ground. You wouldn't want your first pictures to show up in another thread. Like maybe ASV Face Down:eek:

You will not be sorry...you made the right choice for sure...we should start an ASV section on this board.... :D

I Agree with starting an ASV section. Muhammad? Congrats on the new machine. Best to you with the new business and like the others said, pictures would be great.

I have read in another forum saying something to the effect that the tracks do not last in some enviroments, mainly like when using the unit for brush hog applications or is just another type how you use or abuse it? What is the lifespan of the tracks? How much for replacement cost?

/ ASV RC100 DONE DEAL! #7
You may have to come over and show me how that works, and as I am kind of slow, you may have to show me a couple of times................. :)

Getting closer on this house, will know positively I think by the end of the month. Will let you know.

I have heard the same on track life but as long as you are cutting a path as wide as the tracks your good. You also need to cut debri your running over down as low as you can. The saplings with sharp edges is what cuts the tracks. ASV's come with 1000 hour warranty on the tracks. It is prorated I believe starting at 500 hours. Maybe Paco can tell since he just bought his.

But they are not cheap, ithink 2700.00 each But I don't know how the price compares to other brand tractor tracks. I plan on trading mine in on a new one before we have to start replacing tracks.

Daily you will be amazed as what the tractor will really do and the user friendly it is.

hey paco, does the ASV now come with a reversing fan option? If not there are ways around that it just would be nice.

Last night I was doing a favor for a friend and cutting a small are of brush and saplings for him before his house is put on the market...My blades were dull and I wasnt getting a clean cut leaving little more than an inch or so of sapling above the dirt...those of you that mulch know what that means for your tracks...It was dark and I was working by the lights on the machine so I couldnt tell just how bad it was (i spent several hours turning and pivotiing on these saplings because it was a tight fit) and this morning when I saw where I had been cutting my heart sank because I just knew I had chewed my tracks up...but low and behold they came out almost unscathed (one small chunk on the inner edge)

This is about the most abusive mulching situation you can put your tracks in and I am a fairly fast operator so I would give the tracks a big thumbs up for durability!

Thanks for all the support, I am sure my questions will be just beginning. Pictures will be a definite. I am putting off delivery a couple of days as I catch up on stump removal. I feel more comfortable knowing I have a support group(tractorbynet gang). I agree with an asv section also. In response to track life, It concerns me but I believe track life will be good for those who are smart and not so good for those who abuse them. Just because you can zero turn the machine, should you? I will not unless it is have to. Little things can add life or decrease it. I have seen an ran an asv with 1500 hours on the tracks boy did they look rough but rep said by asv standards they still had life in them. A hired hand had ran that machine in forestry application. Alan, good luck on the new house and hope to hear from you soon. Robbie, you got me on the reversing fan option? Please enlighten me. I did get an auxillary hydralic cooler.

Hey Mike.

A reverseing fan is just a feature that will momentarily reverse the cooling fan to blow any leaves off the grates covering the engine. It may not even be an option but I thought it was.

Your dealer must really be in tune with ASV to know what there coming out with. ASV's web site says nothing about a pressurized cab or the aux cooler.

I told my wife if you come up with any more options I was trading mine in!!!!!

You are right about how you treat your machine will determine how long it lasts. Grease it daily and blow out the radiator every time you refuel and it will run like a top.

I'm glad if any of our advice helped you in your purchase and I think you will be pleased with the work your tractor puts out.

An ASV section would be great. I know this site is not a skid steer site but from what i've seen there are more skid operators here than any other. Plus there is good company here!!! Does one of us need to message the admin. for a formal request???

Your mulching buddy. Robbie

Robbie, I will question him about the reversing fan. the aux. cooler is an add on from the dealer(vermeer) not asv. I really like the rep. I have bought grinders from him in the past. He is not a pushy saleman but is full of product knowledge. I never need a sales pitch, I need knowledge. Once I commited to buy, the dealer did not have a machine on his lot, so when he got some in that is when he discovered the pressurized cab. It will be interesting to see if it is better.

I'm not sure where I posted it. Type to much but that is who wanted me to demo the magnum heads was a local vermeer dealer. Your dealer does sound extremely knowledgeable. I think that will be your best asset.

The gyrotrac GT-25 I demoed had a pressurized cab and it was sweet. That was on a 300k machine. The fact that ASV put on a "little guy" speaks volumes about the company and its tractors. Again I missed a few options because of timing on my purchase, sound like your timing was perfect!!!

Extra cooling is never a bad thing. Robbie

I think the magnum head will be well received by you in the short term, but I wish you could run it for 200 maybe 300 hours and see about the long time quality and support side. That made be nervous based on the little history I found on them.

/ ASV RC100 DONE DEAL! #15
Yes I agree. When I read what you posted about them selling it threw up afew red flags. That would suck big time to buy a 20k+ head only to have poor customer support. I like Loftness equipment but after running the carbide cutter it left the door open for a better running head. I just wish I could run the magnum sooner. Maybe by then he'll have a new one in and I can run them close together and evaluate them against each other. That's the plan anyway.

Oh yea. Did you ask about the tax exemption option???

I have considered Fecon several times but the closest dealer is Supertrak in Florida and that doesn't work for me.

I PMed Hakim about us an ASV section and the request was forwarded to Muhammad for consideration. Here's hoping.

I will post pictures hopefully this evening. I took delivery last week but the head was not properly balanced so I got it back yesterday late. I ran 4 hours today.

Paco,

I've been sold on the ASV as well. The problem, as stated in other strings, he wants $110k with all the toe bells on. AC, cab over pressure, reversing fan, aux cooler and forestry package.

I've demod a machine with all of that and sold on it. Those extras cost $10k. The way I looked at was $10k now or $10k later in repairs. I also liked what Robbie said about a back up camera.

We need to talk. Robbie and Quickdraw have both replied to other strings. I just found out about this board, got on and now I'm replying to everything trying to catch up and benifit from all the experience here.

From what I read here, the savings alone in working with your dealer will more than pay for me to drive there and get one, even if I do have to pay TN taxes.

I do have a Fecon dealer about two hours away and Vemeer is in Houston, about an hour away.

Nothing would please me more than to buy a machine up there, stop at the Timber Jack dealership on the way back and rub his nose in it. Then if there were warrenty issues, they'd have to fix it anyway.

Please contact me as soon as you can.

John
