I also use the hydro pedal from the ground to move the tractor forward or back as needed to get lined up.

You can also do that with the FEL. Curl the bucket in the dump position, drop the bucket to the ground and put it in the float position, and use the dump and curl on the joy stick to rock the tractor forward and aft.

That is what I used to do and it worked quite well. Since the new tractor has the extendable ends on the lift arms I haven't needed to do that with it.
