B Boss 6x6 plow setup

Here is a few photos from the repair shop today. These are just of the push frame that needed more of dog leg added to it (less straight) so the blade could be lifted higher. I also modified the lifting sheave that mounts on the grill guard but i forgot to get any photos of that.

The 1st photo shows the frame and fish plate that reinforces it. So I cut off the plates and cut the tubing and bent it so as to give it more of an angle. The 4th photo shows the blades push plate end that developed a strange bend to it. Its 1/4 in thick and I have no idea why it would bend like this. The 5th one shows an extra 1/4 plate I added to keep that from bending up again. The last one is the after the new fish plates were added, then the frame was blasted and primed.

Folks, We got a nice little snow overnight so I was in the garage and assembled the "new and improved" push frame and lift sheave. They both worked great!

The lift sheave was moved closer to the machine and higher. Slightly anyway. The push frame was "bent more" so as to allow the blade to go higher. Gee, this really allowed it to be nicer to use.

I must not state that this machine can really push the snow... :thumbsup: I must advise anyone with serious snow to be moved, get pods.

As stated earlier in this thread, this moose plow is built on the light side so I'm contemplating adding some reinforcement to where I believe it will fail. In the 1st photo, you can see rust coming out where it may already have cracked where the attachment plates are welded on. I'm considering adding a flat to the bottom of the angle seen in the 2nd photo. Then adding some steel to connect the vertical plates that the springs and the pivots are attached to would be pushing more on that bottom flat. That's really a angle that's lighty welded to the curved blade steel. Whats your thoughts? In the third photo, I drew a line were the extra flat would be added to its bottom.

I would guess that your light duty plow blade is about 1/8" thick and I see in your photos that there's no reinforcement on the top edge and at the sides.

You might go look at some heavier duty plow blades, including the brand that you have to get more ideas to strengthen up your blade.

It appears they build this blade for tire/chains on atv/utv and you have such greater traction with your tri-pod tracks.

Do you ever push snow with the blade angled, because this might create a different type of force on the plow blade and the plow blade attachment frame ?

My Massey Ferguson #2340 Dozer Blade is made out of 3/16" material and is reinforced around the perimeter of the blade.

I angle push snow with it, maybe 40% of the time that its out. Our yard is on a hill and snow usually needs to be pushed to the DH side. The bottom portion of the blade to what I'm most concerned about. I'm not sure what "tri-pod tracks" are...... Thanks!

Today a cut a couple of flats that are 1/8 x 2" wide to be tacked on where the line is drawn in this photo. The line just shows where it goes, not its length. It will actually be around 40" long and its ends will be tapered. Most of the material this blade is made from is 1/8". Seems that our lake snow is shutting down. Gee its, sure been a lame winter snow wise.

It sounds like you do not have a problem pushing snow while the plow blade is angled, that's good.

I am sure I'm not calling them by the correct name, "tri-pod tracks", those triangle shaped drive tracks that have replaced your 4 tires and wheels.
