Advice, well if you are cutting saplings try not to get in a position that requires backing up. The tractor will push saplings over and if you back up they have a way of popping up and grabbing wires and hoses. No big deal if it is pasture with weed and grass. If you haven't mowed the area before it is a good idea to walk it first for obstacles. Things like rocks, tires, fence posts, crocodiles, kangaroos, the normal stuff. :D

My advice is to enjoy that time on your land! It is fun making a difference, and seeing the work you are doing progress as you enjoy the land, and your tractor. On setting up the slasher, limit the side play, set the front an inch, or two lower than the rear, and set the depth of cut higher than you think you should at first until you see how much it digs in on corners, and changing terrain. There is a manually adjusted stop you can set on the lift lever linkage to limit how far the slasher will drop, and if you have much to do, that will make life easier for you. You will see a "U" shaped sliding stop on the linkage under the 3pt lever.

Well, let's try this again......... (second attempt at a reply). My advice for the weekend is to have fun on your land with the tractor. It is great to be on your own land, doing things you enjoy, and watching the progress as you go along. Mowing is great for that! On the slasher, tighten the check chains to limit side to side play. (you will appreciate that on corners, and backing up) Set the slasher up for a somewhat deeper depth of cut than you think you should at first. They have a way of digging in on corners, and changing terrain, and take the time to set the "U" shaped sliding stop on the 3pt hitch linkage for your depth of cut. That way it will return to the same place each time you drop it. That is nice if you have any amount at all to do. The front of the slasher should be an 25-50 mm lower than the rear for good performance.

Good advice Chuck but I don't think you noticed that the slashers used in OZ just skid on there side skirts without a tail wheel. Not sure all the adjustments you recommended are available.

That's right, I forgot you don't have a tailwheel. I do have a Kubota B2620 though, and I know the lower limit is adjustable since I use it with my training wheel slasher. :D There is a thread here with a picture of the adjustment......... well, it's raining, but I have a camera..... Duh.

Edit: Ok, here are some pictures of the "U" shaped adjustment that you can see as a sliding member ahead of the spring. This will control how far down the hitch will drop on the new B2x20 series tractors
