Today, the wife told me to go find a backhoe for my brand new B2410 (5.8 hours on the meter). I promply obeyed the order!! Being a city boy, I have some questions about the backhoe setup:

1) Does a mounted backhoe preclude the use of the 3 pt hitch?? I have a rear blade that I need to use.

2) Are backhoes dismounted very often?? How much of a pain is it to take off??

3) I have a FEL. I think that I need at least some new valves to control the backhoe. What sort of additional hydraulics will be needed? Per the owners manual there is a rear hydraulic hookup. Would the backhoe hook into that hookup?

4) Any guestimates as to price to install this thing???

Thanks for any help.

I don't have the backhoe but I've drooled over it enough. I'll take a shot at a few of these before the experts wade in.

Does a mounted backhoe preclude the use of the 3 pt hitch?? Yes. To use the 3ph for another implement the backhoe must be removed.

Are backhoes dismounted very often?? How much of a pain is it to take off?? You would have to take the backhoe off as many times as you need to use the 3ph for another implement. I would also think that if you are using your B2410 to mow you would want the backhoe off both to reduce the length and the weight. Pain to take off? This has been discussed here several times. It sounds to me like it is hard the first few times, but gets better.

What sort of additional hydraulics will be needed? This would depend on the backhoe (Kubota vs 3rd party) but there is a plate on the rear right side of the B2410 that can be removed and a hydraulic adaptor plumbed in. Some backhoes can come with a pto driven self contained hydraulic system.

Any guestimates as to price to install this thing???
In USD, not a clue /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Here are a few answers, keep in mind I have a Long tractor and not a Kubota.

1) The bachhoe must be removed to use 3ph

2) I take mine off when ever I am not using it. It takes about 5 mins to take mine off, very easy.

3) My backhoe operates of off one of my rear remotes.

4) I would say a ballpark figure of between 3 to 5 thousand.

Make sure you get a subframe mount rather than a 3ph mount. It is much less stress on the tractor, and easier to attach/remove.

I have a KUBOTA 4690 Backhoe. A 2410 would use a 4672.
1) Does a mounted backhoe preclude the use of the 3 pt hitch?? I have a rear blade that I need to use.
Yes it will have to be removed to put your rear blade on. I use my FEL to level with. A heavy-duty top link bracket is also required. A folding ROPS is required for a KUBOTA Backhoe.
2) Are backhoes dismounted very often?? How much of a pain is it to take off??
My 4690 was a pain until I made a dolly to set it on. It allows me to install or remove it in about 20 minutes. I never leave my Backhoe on. When job is complete I take it off.
3) I have a FEL. I think that I need at least some new valves to control the backhoe. What sort of additional hydraulics will be needed? Per the owners manual there is a rear hydraulic hookup. Would the backhoe hook into that hookup?
The KUBOTA is fully self contained. A pump is attached to your rear PTO.
4) Any guestimates as to price to install this thing???
A new 4672 was about $5500.00 this spring. You may find a Woods for less than this. A couple of TBN members have been able to find some good deals on gently used Backhoes. The prices have been around $4000.00.

My wife is telling me the same thing about my new tractor. What's up with that? What's in the air? I'd be interested in experiences with a backhoe for the BX2200.

I'll repeat a bunch, but here's the dump. The B2410 will take a Kubota 4672 or a Woods 6500 BH plus others I'm sure.

You can have either the BH, or a 3PH implement on the tractor, but not both at the same time.

The Kubota BH must be installed with some extra brackets etc. to provide the same strength you get from the woods frame. Both have the same reinforcing effect, but accomplish it differently.

If you have a mid mower, you should seriously consider the Kubota BH. With the Kubota BH, you can leave the MMM attached and also attache the BH, but the MMM will be in the up locked position so it's not usable.

With the Woods, the frame brackets bolt to the tractor and can not be installed at the same time as a MMM so switching between the MMM and BH is a wrench and bolt exercise and is to be avoided.

The Kubota BH comes with it's own PTO pump and hydraulic system. The Woods can be purchased either way.

Dave, my understanding is that the BX2200 is not backhoe compatible. The BX22, while very similar to the 2200, has had changes in the frame to allow the backhoe attachment. As always, I welcome corection if I have mispoken.

Thanks much for the info. I kind of got sidetracked with this
issue. House is still standing. We are still evacuated (Hayman, Co. fire). Fire lines holding today so far.
