Kubota l245, Ferguson TEA-20, Farmall Cub (Sold...Play taps in your head)
Hi folks, I've been on the fence about buying a new l3700 for 17,500 for the past few weeks.

I've seen an ad for a 2007 b2910 with 250 hrs with a 5ft bush hog for $13K. I know it's a smaller tractor, but I think it would do 99% of what I would need. Any thoughts on the price? Already spoke to the buyer a couple weeks ago and it doesn't sound like he wants to budge on the price.

Yeah, I guess I'm grabbing at straws. There are just so few used tractors on the market. I just wouldn't mind avoiding the sales tax and Kubota insurance that will be added to the price of the new one. If I only I had a neighbor who was ready to give away his l3400 with half a dozen implements like the guy in that other thread...

but you rarely step into a great used deal like that.

Add my vote for the new L. More tractor, full warranty, zero financing if desired.

The B2910 would be a steal at $11K, but at $13K it doesn't rock my world. FWIW

I was thinking 11.5 ...... but we are on the same page. I'd go with the new L with the original scenario.

Thanks for the advice, folks. $11k sounds great to me too, but It would probably be sold in an hour for that price around here. You're probably right about the new L, it's just been hard for me to swallow the idea of buying a tractor that costs more than any car I've ever bought. I know at least the tractor won't depreciate like a car.

Wow 17400 is more than any car. I bought a 2010 diesel jetta for my wife last year which is a basic car with the diesel option and it ran 24200 and i would hate to say what my truck ran in 2008. When I bought my 4240 this year my wife was quick to pick up that it was more than her car and joking said she needed a new car because she couldn't own a tractor that cost more than her car

I had a 2910 before my 4240 and the only reason I went to a larger tractor was to get more lift height and capacity as I struggled every year to transfer our jet skiis from the carts to the trailer it did every thing else I asked it to and it even did that I just had to be creative. My 2910 had 268 hours on it and it was an 04 which was the last year before the 3030 but if it's in good shape it's worth 13k I have seen them listed for more with 800 hrs or more on them. The dealer was going to give me 10k for just the tractor I ended up giving it to my dad and couldn't be happier every time he calls and says I used the kubota today or when I call and ask what are you doing and he is doing something he could be using the tractor to do and I have to remind him he has a tractor that would make it easier

Which is why we say $11 or $11.5K. Sorry, I just wouldn't go $13. I'd still go with the L or keep shopping for a better deal on a B.

Not any car, just the ones I buy, which are always used and relatively cheap. We have six month old twins and bought a used Odyssey minivan last year in preparation. Before that we had no car payment at all for about 2 years. I hate to go to 2 payments now, not because we can't swing it, but just because I don't like to be in debt any more than necessary. This is why I find old tractors (like the Case loader) so tempting. I could pay cash and be done. It makes no sense because the Kubota would be financed at 0%, but it still hurts to shell out another $350 every month.

Hi What about a b2620 or b2320? I do not know if these are large enough for you, but could be had for under 13k out the door. Do the tractors you a looking at have loaders at that price?

I know all about buying used cars and raising kids, so I sure know about wanting to save money. I also know about buying the wrong machine and paying for something you don't like.

I bought used last year, but it was the same kind I was looking for new. It is always better to pay a little more than to buy twice.

Yes, those are prices with loaders. A smaller B wouldn't quite work for me. Or at least work as well.

Good point about being cheaper to buy the right tractor first. I've actually already had three already, so maybe the fourth time is the charm.:D

Ok, so the latest used deal I've come across is a 2008 l2800, fel, york rake, quick hitch, and 3 pt. sweeper for 14000. It has about 200 hrs of light use. The guy sounds like he might deal a bit on it. I really have no use for the sweeper, so I would probably try to resell it right away. Anyone know what I might expect to get for one? I'm not sure of the model.

Does this package sound like it's in the right ballpark and would it do most everything the l3700 would being down about 10hp?

Thanks again for all your help.

As far as the sweeper goes..... I got a really nice used York brand five foot sweeper in a package (tractor and attachments) I bought. I had no real use for the sweeper, so I put it on CraigsList. I got $1500 for it from the second guy who looked at it. At the time, a new one would have cost $3500+ . I retrospect...... I kinda wish I'da kept it, but you know how that goes. :confused2:

Pic of the one I had.

That's what I was hoping someone would say. I figure I can take at least a thousand or more off the net price with the sweeper sale figured in. The guy is supposed to call back tomorrow after he looks at what he paid to see how much lower he can go. Thanks for the input.

Thank you all for the input. I'm hoping to get just a bit more as I continue my search.

I guess the title of this thread isn't quite so appropriate any more as I am looking at the l2800, but does anybody else have input on the price for this tractor? I spoke again with the seller yesterday. He wants 13,800 for the 2008 l2800 with 150hrs, 3pt sweeper, landscape rake, back blade (said he needed to look for it), and a quick hitch.

The deal doesn't sound bad to me except that it has ag tires and I really want r4s, so I can use a rfm on the lawn. I called a local dealer to price replacement tires but haven't heard back. Does anyone have an idea how much I would pay for a set?
