B2910 vs L3010

Congratulations on your purchase! You'll be happy with the L3710HST, I'm sure. Not that I think you wouldn't be happy with the B2910, but the L3710 is a lot more tractor than the B2910 plus 7 HP.

tjb, congratulations on your purchase decision. That may be the hardest part. I believe the 3710 is the largest Grand L that can still take a belly mower, but I don't know if that is one of your requirements after you clear.

MarkC needs to be severely disciplined, however, for commenting "plus 7 HP". On the Gross vs. Net Horsepower thread we have concluded that the 3710 is measured by net HP whereas the 2910 is measured by gross HP, so that means the HP difference between the two is ... uh ... er ... well, where we are at on that thread is that we are, basically, confused.

Glenmac, I see what you mean. I've many times proclaimed my ignorance when it comes to the B series (and in a roundabout way, about a lot of other things). In this case, I was um, well, taking his word for the 7 HP. Actually, there's 8 HP difference in the model numbers, which means the difference is (37 Net HP minus 29 Gross HP) considerably more than 8 HP. But, assuming the real difference in Net HP is closer to 12, I'd still say "The L3710HST is more tractor than the B2910 plus 12 HP." /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Well, actually we may be able to be slightly more helpful to tjb and posterity.

The Kubota brochures list the gross hp's as being 38.5 for the 3710 and 30 for the 2910. The brochure lists the net hp for the 3710 as 36.6, but neither the brochure nor my 2910 owners manual gives a net hp figure for the 2910. The PTO hp's for the HST models are 30 for the 3710 vs. 22 for the 2910. There, that clears it up.
