Thank for the help! If nothing shows on stick, how much would you add at that point?

Looked at the front axle oil level, it appeared to be ok, there was oil dripping off of the dipstick when I removed it, you are right it is hard to see a distinct level.

The other thought I had was related to my MMM brackets. The MMM is off, but for some reason, I cannot get the dial under the seat to lock in the "Top" position. Last year I purchased and installed a new notched part (CAM) that goes underneath the floor, but this did not help. Perhaps something is vibrating or making this noise that is related to this.

Thanks once again.

If the Kubota dealer also sold Harleys he would tell you its just a Kubota sound they all do that.

Try different ranges on your hst and see if it does that sound in all three L-M-H

The 3 point hitch has to be all the way in the up position before you can lock in the "Top" position.

Yeah I know about the hitch having to be all the way up. For some reason it won't go into the top position even when the 3 point is all the way up. Also, it won't hold at a particular cutting height. When lowering it it just goes all the way to the bottom and the knob spins.

Thanks so much to all who offered help with this. This forum has been a great help to me over the years in getting to know this machine.

The sound still lingers, cannot pinpoint it. Of course I get a neighbor to walk along and it won't make the sound. I go out this morning and sure enough back again. It still sounds like it is coming from the front of the tractor but cannot find out where.

Problem solved, have the neighbor walk next to the tractor.

Make sure the legs/stands for the loader aren't vibrating. I heard mine making a strange sound while warming up the other day and that's what it was.

You mention that the noise occurs when you are plowing snow. How about when you are not? Also I assume that when you mention you are plowing snow that you are pushing snow using either a front end loader or a snow blade. Which is it? If a blade, it could be a rattle from one of the height adjusting feet....I get a similiar sound from the blizzard blade on my RTV900.

Thanks guys. I am using an angled rear blade to move snow while going forward. It will also occur while moving with the blade up. I can hear it, then it immediately stops when I release the forward pedal and stop.

Wow, this is interesting. The sound does sound somewhat similar to mine. Doesnt seem that the dealer was too worried about it, but several posters made comments that showed some real concern.

I am not sure that this sound is only present only when under a "load". For instace pulling light snow with back blade, going down a steep hill and the sound will appear- not sure that this can really be considered over-working the tractor. However, I do notice it when going up hill pretty consistantly. I will pay more attention to this aspect.

Many folks commented on the drive shaft cover, can someone give me some more direction about how to investigate this as a potential culprit.

At this point, is it even worth having the dealer come and get this?

Again, many many thanks!

If it is still under warranty I would have the dealer look at it and if they can't find anything document it in case something fails a month out of warranty.

Unfortunately I purchased this new in May 2010, so no warranty coverage.

I have had my 2920 since 09. I have had this sound since day one. I went from a BX22 (that was smooth as butter) to the B so I also was very concern at first however since others have experienced this rattling vibration I became less concern and caulk it up to micro phonics and just become used to it. Mine only appears when under load (using bucket, pulled box blade etc) but it sounds exactly like the sound in the video. Although I wouldn’t trade my B for the world as it fits me perfect but it is annoying at times.

Hi
Another B2920 owner here with a rattling sound more so when bucking up then going forward I checked all the fluids wheels and so on looks OK, I finally got pissed of and the stupid location of the dipstick on the axel (great engineering) it is very hard to see the level of the fluid my dipstick is wet however I thought I stick my finger in the hole and it was dry couldn't touch the oil so I guess the stick gets wet while operating so I have added gear oil about 1.5l before I could see a little bit of oil on the bottom of the hole my tractor has 10HR on it f..ing dealer didn't check the fluids before the delivery it makes you wonder about a quality of workmanship when you leave the tractor for service -not happening, so the noise got a lot quieter, and as soon as a snow is done I'm taking the tractor for inspection to someone else just so it is noted and maybe fix under warrant in case more problems will show up later. This is why I don't trust the dealers too much also those new dip sticks (plastic) are joke I'm thinking of replacing it with a metal one drill few 1/8 holes in steps so if the oil is there viscosity of the oil would cover the corresponding hole

So just to clarify, you added fluid to the front axle and your sound improved? Anyone else have experience with this finger test to determine front axle fluid level?

Interesting. I watched the youtube vid and to me it sounds like a piece of sheet metal or something metal vibrating, not anything related to the front axle, especially since the tractor was not moving. I have herd something similar on my BX. It only happens when the rpm is in a narrow range and even then not all of the time. Months back I thought I had isolated the noise to a piece of sheet metal at the lower front of the front grill area. On my BX, the sheet metal "cover" is attached on one side but not the other. It must be intended for removal for service I assume. At one point when it was making noise, I could press on the "loose" side of the panel and the noise would stop. But, I then added a bolt on that side, but only at one corner. After that the noise subsided for a while, and now I hear it again. I'm thinking I may need to secure it better, or add some felt padding between the edge of the sheet metal panel and the frame, which is where I think it's vibrating. Now, of course, this is a BX and no a B, but maybe Kubota uses a similar piece of sheet metal on the lower front side of the tractor.

In the attached pic, it's item 140. Shows it bolted at the top of each corner, but I don't recall a bolt on the left side. Anyway, you can see where the bottom right or left side of the sheet metal could vibrate against the vertical strut. Anyway, something to look for on your B's. See if you have a similar piece of sheet metal and if it's loose at one or more of the corners.

Interesting, the weather has recently improved into the mid 60's. I have been doing some grading of my gravel drive and have not been hearing this noise. I heard it this winter while plowing snow. Is it possible that something is temperature dependent?
