B3030 Vibrations

   / B3030 Vibrations #11
So far I have 50 hours and the vibration still the same. I'm a bit disappointed because there's been no development at all since people started to complain about the vibration. Nothing too from my side.

I feel like I've been deceived by Kubota because I ordered my tractor before I could try it. My dealer was pushing me to place an order to get the tractor faster. I looked and tried a JD and a Case before I ordered a B3030 and now... I think that I should have wait. But, the tractor is nice... but there's that vibration... ahh well, it seems that nothing is perfect in this world.

Stef, my 3030 still doesn't vibrate. I forgot to tell you, I ride a Harley. They don't vibrate, do they? Maybe I'm just used to it.

I tried the B2630 at the dealer (no B3030 available). By comparison the B2630 had no vibration at any rpm. I operated the machine for about 30 minutes working in a sand pit next to the dealer.

It's not a significant vibration but I don't expect any. A well balanced machine (like a Harley or certainly a BMW(sorry I couldn't resist)) is smooth as silk. I came to expect this level of quality from Kubota. They are historically an engine manufacturer. The B7100 is smooth after 23 years and 3000 hours of operation.

I have the B3030 with FEL and Hoe, 70hrs and no vibrations at any of the RPMS. Driven it on road, woods, grass, no problems. I do not have a mower deck so not sure if it would vibrate with it.

My B2910 does not have any vibration at 2000 RPM's. Lower to 1800 though and there is a noticeable vibration in the steering wheel that makes my finger tingle after a while. Is this the kind of vibration you are talking about?
I do not run my tractor at that RPM. Always lower or higher.

Ronjhall,

What your are experiencing is a resonance. At a certain RPM, energy from the engine is coupled into some part of the machine that vibrates. This is not the fault of the engine. All three of my tractors will do this. This usually occurs between 1200 and 1600 RPM. They should design these things so that there is not any resonance at PTO speed.

The steering wheel is often a victim of a resonance since it is supported only on one end. It will have a natural frequency at which it will vibrate. A bit like a tuning fork. If the engine is running at this frequency (speed) the steering wheel will get excited and vibrate. On my 1910 the throttle lever will also vibrate a bit at a certain RPM setting.

The engine itself could also be vibrating. One should try to determine if the whole tractor vibrates or just the steering wheel. If everything is vibrating then the engine is probably the culprit.

You want to design things so their natural frequency is out of the working range of the engine. This is one thing that computer modeling can be used for. I suppose a loose steering column could cause this frequency to change too.

A couple of weeks ago I was ready to pull the trigger and the B3030 was on the short list of favorites, It was a month before the dealer finally received them.. Fine looking tractor, and best suited for my needs,I get on the tractor, spark her up, and notice the vibration right away /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif no sale /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif I went with a different brand /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif Kubota lost a sale over this, I hope they fix it for you B3030 owners...cag

What kind of tractor did you buy instead of the B3030? Icould live with a little vibration, but those B3030s were way too bad, there is some major design flaw here.

I don't believe this is a normal resonance as it occurs at ALL RPMs, and does not get significantly better or worse or worse at any particular RPM range.
