B3200 Vibration Update

The timing was off 8 degrees on my new 3200. Correcting this reduced the vibration. Not eliminated it but its now at a level that is not, in any way, an issue. The biggest change was the way it starts. No missing, sputtering and belching white smoke on start up. Even when its 10 degrees outside. Glow it for 5 seconds or so and it snaps to life instantly. Well worth looking at if you have a 3200 that acts like it has a "cold cylinder." No more missing until warmed up. Now I'm a happy camper.

Was it 8 degrees early or late?

2. compression, the piston rises and compresses the diesel fuel and air until the metered fuel is compressed to the point it explodes and consumes the that was pushed or pulled into the air intake via the valve train. .

think about this. If this was true then injection timing would not be critical and there would be no way to control at what angle of the piston the explosion would take place. If this method even worked, I imagine it would be a real noisy engine.

Some newer electronic controlled engines with multiple injetions spread the fuel over the power stroke to reduce the impact of the first explosion and thus reduce noise and vibration.

Not sure if was late or early on the timing.

thank you perhaps we should throw a wankle diesel in the ring?

I talked to the mechanic that changed the timing on my 3200. He said the timing needed to be advanced 8 degrees because the pump was injecting the fuel too late in the compression stroke.

8* late as a long way off. It must have run real poorly. Should of had poor power output also?:(

I was not working it hard due to it being brand new so power loss was not really apparent. It did run fine after being warmed up. It runs even better now though. I'm happy with the out come.

Was this done by the dealer?

Yes it was dealer serviced with about 5 hrs on the clock and of course under warranty.
