No problem. Just wanted to make sure you looked at all the options. Some of the trucks out there just don't do anything for me either. We all have our favorites. At the end of the day its your money so get what you want.

By the way, the long hours and the crappy salary can be a good thing. Keeps you out of the taverns. Thats what my boss always tells me.;)

Chris

If I got OT for all of this I wouldn't care what it costs...In fact I'd be in the DMAX range at this point.

Your boss is right. They like it that way.

Topkicker,

First thing: I've newer encountered a dealership that offers those 4 things. In fact, I'd be happy with any combo of at least 2. But no luck there either. Had one good dealer in my area (GMC, not Chevy) but closed as a GMC dealer. They were primarily commercial anyway.

Second: My truck was "born" in Fort Wayne. If you worked there in 04, I have to thank you. She's been a beauty. 147K miles and still drives like a hotrod. I will probably replace her as a daily driver in a few years, but still keep her in the stable. Best vehicle I've ever owned.

Always good to hear a happy customer. Sounds like you've got great service out of one of our products. I just moved here this past year with the launch of the new HD's. The new "box" frame is the biggest difference in the new HD's. The body panels still look the same. BTW, We got the "Truck of the Year" award from Motor Trend. Alot of press was at the plant today to spead the great news. 2011 Chevy Silverado | New Chevy Trucks | Silverado | Chevrolet

Well, i have to make a decision. The expensive one is what it is..they did show me a leaner one, but it does't have the HD towing or the 6.2. it's a 5.3. Both have 3:42's...There is a serious performace difference between the two. the 5.3 is no slouch. but that 6.2 gets it on.

just have to make up my mind if this is worth 7k more.

That 6.2 is a hoss in a 1/2 ton. I say go for the power. It will pull much better with the 3:42's vs the 5.3 w the same gear. The truck your looking at is actually fairly rare. Don't know the exact build numbers, but 5.3's are by far the most common powerplant.

I have the wait time..In no real hurry. Thing is, the amount of money coming off of this is better than anyone I've talked to around here that has bough a new truck, and they are convinced they stole theirs. I think they want to dump the floor plan on this truck. Plus I have a somewhat insider thing going on.

Problem is, pickups are huge around here, so getting a killer discount is rare. Have to go cross country for that, and I just can't get a day off to do it. Might have done better in NJ with a dealer that I'm associated with, but the logistics don't work.

I could not get a day off either. I'm having my van shipped. $ 360.00 from NJ to upstate NY.

It is an oddball truck..It's more or less a Denali without some of the Denali options. Has the wheels, oval boards, chrome package, leather, backup alarms, stability control etc...It's even black.....No AWD, which I like. Even with the 3:42's, you can tell there's 400hp in it. This thing moves.

The wife keeps asking me if I bought it yet..She really wants me too. Stringing the dealer a bit. He just called me and said he could find another $300 to knock off of it. I think I've wrung him all I can. I've got a $2000 hangup. A mental barrrier, but I'll probably just do it. Hate to save a few thousand and not like it.

My house is the only thing more expensive than this that I've ever bought.

Call him on Dec 23rd and shoot him the price you want to pay. Tell him if he will accept your offer you will e there to pick it up on Christmas Eve, the 24th, and it will be your present to yourself.

He knocked a few more dollars off. I bought it over the phone. This dealer is a client of my company, so I think I did OK on this. Talked to some others who are addictive new car buyers and professional hagglers, and i did much better than they did on a percentage basis. They got there on my trade. They bumped it 4k over any state of reality. Somehow this game works in dealer accounting. Plus it saves me some sales tax. Plus I applied a GM supplier discount given by a friend.

Don't know when I'm picking it up. They have to detail it, put the bed liner, tarp and flaps on it. Plus I wanted the inspection stickers replaced. The brain trust that runs PA ordered inspections stickers with cheap glue and they fall off in the sun. Hopefully the new ones take care of that.

Pictures once I get it home.....It is blinged, so I don't want to hear about that.:D

Chris, Now I get to continue keeping you between the white lines on GM commentary:D

I do appreciate everyones input...This decision was tough. What can I say, I'm really cheap.

That I can understand. That's nearly 1.5 times my first new house. Sorry to bring the last post up, but the handwriting was so on the wall to me. Good luck with the new wheels, or should I say Christmas present?

I'll get over the price...An impulse buyer I am not. I usually beat myself up pretty good for a few days then I get over it.

I'm far in better shape financially than I was when I bought the 04, so no harm or foul in that department. I just keep remembering what it was like to be sod broke and these numbers scare the bejeebers out of me. Guess I have to join the 21st century within reason.

15 years ago a $2000 truck was a luxury.

Good grief, I'm only 44 and I'm talking like I'm 120.:D

Gotta get to work I guess. At least that's what the wife said, and I'll tell myself.:ashamed:

Congratulations on the new truck, even tough its a GM:confused2: Just Kidding. It was clear early on you were only considering a GM and there would be no changing your mind so I tried to be civil and help you with the buying process, not arguing over which truck is better. I have bought about 20 new vehicles over the years and always seem to get better deals than my buddies so I thought I could help. Nothing more.

Its your money and your decision. I have my own beliefs and thats whats great about this country we live in. We have so many choices. To be honest the GM trucks have done nothing for me for the past 15 or so years so even if there was never a bail out or any of the other problems I would not be buying one anyway. I did once in 04 because I listened to what everyone else told me it was what I needed. That was a mistake. You did right by trusting your gut and not listing to all the arm chair quarterbacks here, me included.

Bling can be a good thing. I like a nice looking truck. All 3 of mine are pretty decked out.

Now we need pictures of you Christmas present.

Chris
