Backhoe installation followup

Jim,

What we she build you if you left for a month?

marc
I don't want to know.... but she has been talking about digging out the east side of the house to put in a 20'x30' patio off the basement rooms!! Then adding french doors from each basement room out to the patio. Presently the dirt comes up about 5' on the basement walls... that is a lot of digging!! I think the only thing stopping her is the deck overhead that should come down first. BUT.. I am hiding the keys now when I leave town.

My wife grew up in Lincolnville, Maine. There must be something in the water up there, because she also enjoys doing things with the tractor!

My wife was born in Dallas, grew up in Atlanta, her family is from the coast of NC and I met her in NM. A southern belle with a redneck streak... an interesting combination. She has 2 sons and a daughter, if you throw a quarter in the air.. any one of the three can shoot a hole in it.. she taught them how to shoot.. I don't mess with her!! :) Much

Now, back to our Backhoe install discussion.

Marc,

I'm following the same route. I placed my order from Michigan Iron.

Jim,

I decided to go with the existing solution. I'm sure Dave and his guys could do some thing for me. But Michigan Iron's is an already complete solution. At least that's my reasoning. Your wife certainly sounds ambitious. I'd leave the keys and see what else she come up with.

Brandi,

You hit it on the head, IF I can afford it. I've got to control expenses. The backhoe was a big number, the thumb adds some more. The hydraulics can come later. I've got a lot of work ahead so I'm sure I wind up with the hydraulics eventually. Your machine sure looks larger than my Kioti Ck20.

Thanks all.

Bruce

Bruce,
The big RED Beast is 11,300 pounds. She will lift 3900 pounds with the loader and 5000 pounds with the 3PH:D. I think she is just a little bigger.;)
hugs, brandi

I just ordered the BT85-SH. I can't wait for it to get here. Michigan Iron and Equipment was great to deal with, they made it very easy. The nice thing is the hydraulics can be added later at anytime. They sell the kit for a fair price, but like others have said, "when I can afford it"

Why buy it once as mechanical when you know you're going to refit with a hydraulic thumb kit a year or two from now? Get the factory installed hydraulic thumb right from the start and avoid the hassles of plumbing and making it fit later at a higher cost than the present. Two years ago I bought a new Woods BH90X with an 18" bucket AND a hydraulic thumb for $7000.00-Rosseel's. Now it is $8050.00 per ebay. Sometimes it makes good sense to "get on the bandwagon" from the get go.
MIE is a good company, if they offer a hydraulic kit for their thumb, don't hesitate, buy it and be done.
I have two of their custom in-house products, both of which are stellar in their designs, a loader bucket grapple and a BH ripper tooth.

My Mahindra/Bradco thumb came with the fixed (articulated) link. I don't know if they sell it without the fixed link.

The thumb and fixed link cost around $900 four years ago. The hydraulic kit cost an additional $1000 at that time.
If I had it all over to do again, I would have added the hyd. kit to the tractor package, like I did the BH and thumb.

Actually MIE's kit is far cheaper than what my dealer wants. MIE also provides the exact parts you need for your specific machine. It's a very easy install and based on speaking with them, the kit will be available for a while yet. As much as I'd love to buy it right now, my money isn't unlimited and there are a couple other toys I want for the machine first.
