It's amazing how these little birds travel south...

As promised here are some pictures:

We started the piers (according to Engineering drawing) and filled in 10 loads of 80/20. From the piers we had some left over cement which my contractor turned into a little patio.

The pole barn in the back is mine. I will take it down when the new barn is up. The two container on the right are mine and the rest you see is already on the neighbors property.

That looks like a great project and a great layout.

Heitjer, How is the project coming along? Any recent photos? I'd (we'd) love to see and or hear about the progress.
Hope everything is going well!!

Sorry - guys no further progress as we are waiting on the "City of Houston" approval. Ones received we will pore the slab.

Nice. I wish I could get that built here for that amount, here in WA it would cost twice much, with around $25k going to the permit fees.

That would call for a revolt, 25k just going to nothing. Out here in a little county in Tx- no permit, build what you want, there are exactly 0 county building inspectors.

I'm pretty rural here too, just happen to be in the main county here. It'd cost me $5k to know whether they will let me build. Permits used to be to make sure people did things correctly, now they are just another tax for the county/city. I'm thinking about building a barn with a flat roof, planting 'eco' plants, to help hide from the planes. ;)

Did I read that right - $25000 for building permits??? I know everyone complains about NY taxes, but I feel pretty good right about now. Just called the town code enforcement officer yesterday to inquire about a building permit for a 36x60 horse barn. He asked if it met setbacks (yes, it's in the middle of my 50 acres) and if I had a set of stamped drawings for the trusses (yes, the truss mfg supplies them). $40 for the permit, bring in the truss drawings, and a sketch of the barn on my survey map. I feel pretty fortunate.

Still waiting for the City permits, everything is framed up and ready to receive lining and rebar. We have not started with the rebar in case it rains.
