Rented a 1 cubic yard concrete trailer for pouring around the posts. Did not figure the volume needed, thought surely 1 yd. would do 20 holes - WRONG - took 2 yds. but all done now. More later.

Those one yard buggies sure are handy when you need small quantities. Did you have any trouble getting it? I tried about a month ago to rent one, but United Rentals was all our of Portland Cement and unable to make and concrete. They said it had been two weeks and they didn' know when they would be getting any in. I did see a buggy around town a few days ago, so I assume they have their supply issue solved.

The barn is looking really good, thanks for posting the pics.

EddieWalker - Did you have any trouble getting it? No - it was readily available - Called rental place 1 day ahead and reserved it , they had 2 buggies , plenty of sand, gravel, and portland cement.

Larstan - Buggy rental and 1 yd of concrete was $135

Antriman - I do know what end of the hammer to hold, think we could be friends?
Do you get the lumber from a sawmill or the lumber yard?

We can be friends if you bring that hammer down here & help. Lumber is coming from lumber yard.

dullpain, hows that work if you don't mind my asking. Do they fill it with a load at the rental place and you pick it up ready to add water?
I was under the impression that you just rented the buggy and bought the fixins yourself. I'm asking because I have been using a 1/3 yd mixer and it is getting old /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Thanks,

Larry,

They mix if for you when they load it. You can tell them how wet or dry you want it, but when the buggy leaves the yeard, it's ready to pour.

On price, it's more expensive per yard then a full cement truck, but they usually charge a four yard minimum. If you want only one to three yards, the buggy is the way to go.

Then you position it, pull the lever, and it will dump. It's all hydraulic and powered by it's own motor.

Top Band is up. Slow hard work, a lot of climbing up & down the scaffold. All of this is taking way more time than I had imagined, but starting to look good.

I must give special thanks to good friend John (AKA Chainsaw) he has given up 3 of his Saturdays, and One Week of Vacation to help me, Now that is a true friend!!!

More as I progress.
