I agree, don't let any salesman give any (tractor/auto/tv/toaster/etc.) product line a black eye...

Unfortunately, too many people judge the entire product based on a salesperson... /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

The NH Dealer was ok, just talked about his product. The JD Sales guy that did the most bashing was the Sales Manager!!!! (He even told me he used to sell Kubota...).

We've got just under 2 acres of mud right now, with about a 45 degree slope to the Red River. (We live about 10 miles north of Winnipeg, Canada). I mostly want it for Mowing, with the FEL for odd jobs, moving mud, stones, and gravel, etc.

I asked the Kubota dealer about the Kubota engine vs. the Yanmar engine. He replied that he guages quality on the mining industry, and that kubota is one of 3 engines that the mining industry uses, the other 2 where Deutz and I think he said Perkins. (not sure about that one).

Can anyone confirm that the JD4100 is not really a "Deere", but a green painted competitor's tractor?

I don't KNOW from personal experience, but my JD dealer told me that the 4100 is 100% Yanmar. Also, the 4000 series tractors are "Assembled with pride in Georgia", but where did the majority of the part originate? Anyone know for sure what the %USA content is on the 4000 series of tractors?

There is a salesman at one of the local JD dealer that has the same line as the ones you went to. I have not bought anything from this dealer since this salesman started working for them. When I did get a price from them, there was an added $50.00 charge for delivery. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif I have stopped going to this dealer for anything that is green. There are enough JD dealers near by that know how to sell their line of equipment on their own merits. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I have a JD4000 series brochure here in front of me. On the back it says, "The 4200 through 4700 Tractors were designed and are assembeld at our factory in Agusta, Georgia." This leaves the birthplace and raising of the 4000 in question....
