Utilities will be happy to find a market for surplus capacity at off peak? What ? PV panels are bankrupting power utilizes as the daytime surplus of power is driving down the wholesale price of power . Sales of peak power is what pays the bills . Off peak power does not even break even on generation and transportation costs .

You are saying that PV panels do work and do contribute to electricity to the grid!!

When there are people slamming a genius like Elon Musk that is a huge Wake-Up call to set up and pay attention because change is in the wind.

The only thing genius about Elon musk is his ability to suck money from the government to fund his companies.

His companies are making worthwhile products and services...SpaceX is extraordinary...they are making yesterdays science fiction today's reality... ( have you seen the reusable twin boosters land upright simultaneously ? or the main rocket stage land upright on a ship??)...

At least his companies are in business making advancements....unlike some companies that the previous administration gave billions to and six moths later were bankrupt or just out of business...!

I'd consider myself a genius if I could do that. Not much of an argument against calling him a genius.

Although I do get that you don't like him. What did he do to you?

. Sure when ever the sun is 2hours or more above the horizon.and as long as the solar panel owners are paid a subsidized wholesale rate above the cost of fossil, hydraulic or nuclear generation .
I知 sensing from your pro green agenda that you are unaware of wholesale electrical rates, time of use , spinning reserve , variable weather , varying cloud cover , weekend power demand , summer power demand, spring/fall power demand and winter power demand . And when/what pays the wages, operating costs and pays for generating asset infrastructure.
Are you thinking that displacing base load and peaking load generation during the Mon-Fri daytime peaks and weekend daytime with Solar is economical wise ? Do you want your power bill to at least double if not triple or quadruple depending on the circumstances.
You ought to know better with what has happened in Ontario, California, Germany etc .

Elon Musk like most all geniuses is hard to work with I expect. Most all people that smart and with huge visions for the future tend to be demanding. One thing that amazes me is how he attracts other geniuses that can and do make his visions into realities. Many are geniuses at one level or another but most are not able to get other geniuses to buy into their visions. That take salesmanship like few have.

The EV has physically existed for 100+ plus years but it took Musk to convince us that it was not just a dream but took people over the tipping point so now more and more are saying I can see myself driving an EV one day if not today. Nissan needs credit for being the first successful old line car company with the most EV's on the roads of the world.

I would sure like to know where these "Well Educated" products of our school system are. What a waste of money. More like, 12 years of baby sitting.

I am sure our buying China goods helped make this possible. This is one reason I expect China will in the end be the maker and exporter of the major numbers of EV's down the road. It is the schools kids of today that will be running countries tomorrow. Tesla is getting well positioned to tap the Asia market with little shipping costs or time.

California is stuck with idealists instead of realists . The idealist forms such an emotional attachment to their fantasy of perfection that they refuse to acknowledge facts .
