That's fine because we have our self imposed emotional limitations. I faced that with Lady Gaga until I saw A Star is Born and realized her talents and beauty. Clearly self imposed emotional limitations that I had copied from other people prevented me from seeing EVs are not about going green as far as the earth goes but for the bank account to get and stay in the green especially when charging them on sunshine at home.
A Hollywood make up artists and some plastic surgery could probably make you look like a rock star, too.

Would you be as opposed to ICEV if it were really clean? Like very small tailpipe emissions? Maybe 1% of what they were 40 years ago?
Just curious
I am not opposed to ICEV but I am not as pro OPEC as some. :)

I am opposed to running an ICEV to keep cool or warm for an hour at 20% efficiency.

Our kids are 24 and if crude prices increase as much in the next 50 years as the last 50 years they are facing $1000 to $2000 crude oil prices.

What kind of father wishes $2000 crude oil on his kids when they can gas up on sunshine at home?

Fossil-Fuel CEOs Strike Back With Warning on Energy Transition

I am with these CEOs and Elon Musk on this subject.

The next 40 years are going to bring some strange times when it comes to energy.
I agree with their line of thought although CEOs are liars. They're liars because they're politicians first and business people second, and that's simply what being a politician requires. What would be shocking is if oil company execs came out and said something different.

Looks like Hollywoods new vision of an actor?
Actually, it's got a few decades on it...
"she's" Devine, a male transvestite. Used to do movies for an independent producer/director (John Waters) in Baltimore, MD back in the 70's and 80's. Never saw any "her" movies...but "she" and Waters got a lot of publicity back then

The “gas up on sunshine” thing is really getting long in the tooth.
Very, very few people are currently “gassing up on sunshine”. I bet 85% of EVs are charged using carbon powered power plants and most of the rest is nuclear. Solar has a very small impact on energy production.

Will batteries be the same price when your kids get older? Will the power plants burning fossil fuels be same price, or is crude oil the only source of energy you have slated to increase 1000% in price?

To keep the battery power tool thread more focused on hand tools this thread can be for cars, trucks, tractors, etc that are here today and new ones of the future.

Clearly Europe is ahead of the USA in battery based vehicles and for several reasons. McDonald's putting in car charging stations in 100% of their stores countries like Norway and the Netherlands helped me see this is no small thing. Tax breaks are huge in some countries.

Yesterday I read at some point in recent years the USA government funded a $118 million grant and is one reason there are free charging stations in some areas per that article.

Today there was an article claiming a 620 mile range for the very expensive Tesla Roadster to be out like next year.

I think we will see 1000 mile battery ranges within the next 10 years and at a cost more like the 100 mile range vehicles of 5 years ago. While the technology may not pan out in the article below there is too much being spent on finding more powerful and longer life rechargeable vehicle batteries for it not to bear fruit going forward.

Tech Breakthrough: Is This The End Of Lithium-Ion Batteries? | OilPrice.com

While Cracker Barrel has been installing EV chargers for the last 10 years the rumor at a local dealership is that they are putting in some EV chargers soon in Murray KY. One of the new hotels has three charging stations for guest usage. The Ford dealership has two that have been in for several years. A Walmart in Paducah even reports having a fast 50 amp EV charger.
If the technology below comes to fruition battery power we be more readily accepted. Currently I am not a fan of battery power due to range anxiety; when one can charge a battery in 5 minutes and the charging stations are readily available it makes since battery power will be adopted.

There are lots of EV deniers on this thread, but we'll soon see fleets of EVs on the road with familiar logos. So who is already headed down that road?

  • Amazon
  • Fed Ex
  • Hertz
  • UPS
  • US Postal Service
  • DHL
  • ???

Dave Lee reports EV rebates are being strongly debated and Toyota is involved.

More thoughts on EV rebates.
