Because one of the seat belts in our Leaf parts car was defective I decided to just have the set that blew rebuilt. I took them to the post office this afternoon and the large all you can hold box worked out very well and so they have been been shipped to Safety Restore in Massachusetts and we should have them back next week.

This ran me late scooping poop l but got that done. It's raining hard now so I'm glad I'm inside.

Last Saturday our new 10x20' horse run and 10x16 building arrived and are now level and on cap blocks. We are going to look at getting the solar system from harbor Freight out that I bought years ago and set it up so we'll have some lights down there until we get utility run down there if we do. If that goes well we may look at picking up a used solar system to use to charge the Leaf on Sunshine when we get it back on the road.

So far it looks like we're missing the tornadoes associated with the tornado warning we're under.

It's not, of course...but you sure push EV's
Roy why do you think you perceive that to be factual? You do realize most on this site will sooner or later own or be riding in an EV since ICEVs are being discontinued due to their declining sales. It is amazing how fast the pandemic impacted the future of the internal combustion engine.

I see more and more Teslas on the road, we will be seeing many F150's Lightnings very soon and this is just the beginning. I guess the EV market will get a taste of how Mr. Henry Ford felt back in the beginning of the combustion engine days. Rock on

I noticed your name. I once had a 64 1/2 Mustang with the 289. I liked that car. Not a fan of the Mach-E looks though.

You have an inquiring mind Gale.... why most of us hang out here...

The general "flavour" out there is getting a little tiresome though....

Even if a person likes Carrots, continuously getting beaten with the Guilty Stick gets old....

I don't see these discussions as a beating, just as speculation over what the future will bring us.

The very rapid progress of briefcase phones into iphones may - may! - illustrate the changes to EV's that we will see for the majority of the public that doesn't drive rural distances. As they gradually replace worn out cars, an EV may be the obvious choice. Not for everyone, but appropriate for many. Tractor owners on TBN are necessarily rural but we aren't a large proportion of the population.

You Will always find senarios that EV is not ideal, if I wanted to take a road trip through the Russian steps at mid winter a EV would be a bad choice, driving around where I live and do 90% my driving it would work nice, I would not mind a 20 minutes charge stop when I move between my two places, chargers are on petrol stations, Burger king and at many places I can use the time to something useful.

I see a new add on TV for the 2022 GMC pickups. Don't think it's EV and they are pushing their new "Auto drive" system. Couldn't understand why anybody would need/want Auto Drive.

Watched closely - now I understand. With Auto Drive you can - tune to your favorite music station - follow along with the music - slap your thighs - clap your hands.

Just what everybody needs/wants. OR perhaps GMC thinks the Auto Drive system is better than the average driver. They could well be right.

Unless mandated, and heavily subsidized, I don't see that happening. And, if the government attempts to mandate, a lot of politicians will lose their jobs
Americans like pickup trucks...and if any serious range is needed, EV technology is not there yet

Sounds like the Ford F-150 Lightning has a backlog 5+ years. Most likely the Cyber truck will show the others how to make a long range heavy duty pickup truck that will cut the mustard.

Now you’re dreaming again :)
The F-150 Lightning pickup is a racing truck. It’s not really built for work in the way Americans use a pickup for work. An electric version will be very fast, but not suited for real work.
The HD work truck segment can’t stop every 100 miles to “gas up on sunshine”. They have to get tasks done without recharging interruptions or America will stop running.
Im not in favor of any vehicle mandates. It’s doesnt make me someone “living in the past”. It makes me someone who loves freedom, not mandates. Freedom to chose is one of the greatest things America has to offer.

It took me two times with that commercial, cause i assumed i missed the point on the first time thru. Seems like the best time the start clapping to the music, is when passing a semi-truck and trailer. Most stupid commercial i've seen?

Roger that.

I'm used to being an outlier..... part of why I'm concerned....

Fast food like Mcd and Burger king might not be so bad, very strict food regulations and meat and much else is bought in the country, Mcd even runs TV ads showing the farms they buy ingredients from, and 2016;Mcd was on the top list for best places to work so..

There was an interesting segment on US Farm Report this morning about aviation biofuel. They just did the first commercial flight fueled by 100% jet biofuel. Replacing dino juice with biofuel will make big changes in the ag market, with big economic implications for rural people. First, we will need to add 30 million soy bean acres by 2025 to meet the crush demand. They had 2050 projections too, about having to double US soybean production, but that's fantasy. What they did point out is that there is not even a theoretical way that commercial flights can run on batteries. When they head over the pole from Seattle to Copenhagen, they will need a tank of fuel.

They also dismissed Musk's electric semi. In our society, diesel can be replaced but not eliminated.

They also pointed out that to meet 2025 demand we will need 30 crush facilities. We currently have 12. Big oil is investing, and several are in development. As we eliminate gasoline, we will also eliminate ethanol blending. They didn't mention E95.

This brought up some interesting thoughts. First, what do they do with the beans after the oil is squeezed out? That's a LOT of protein. Fish food? Float it down the Mississippi and ship it to China? That's assuming we're still talking to the Chinese in 2025. Chicken feed? The world is always short on protein.

Another thing is that soybeans fix their own nitrogen, so don't need ammonia. That's 30 million acres that won't need ammonia, and 30 million acres less nitrate runoff into waterways.

It was interesting to me that this is not pie in the sky speculation, it is stuff that is happening right now. The crush plants are under construction. I love the Agricultural press. They actually report reality.
