Battery Powered Week Whacker

I've been picking up gas landscape tools free on bulky pick up days... never seen pickins so good.

The trickle to battery might become an river at this rate...

The Honda powered self propelled mower was the best so far but also picked up half dozen string trimmers.

For battery power I am very pleased with Stihl AP and find reaching for them even if it takes only minute or two ..

Yes sir. Gas powered blowers and string trimmers all over the place on CL for $50 and less.
Kinda makes me wonder what’ll happen to heavy equipment values when the “green new deal” gets passed.....

How heavy is the chainsaw? I've been thinking of a cordless chainsaw for arborist work, but need one I can run one handed at arms length. 18" is pretty big for that. 10" would be adequate. Anything larger and I'll fire up the Husquvarna.

I happen to have a B&D cordless weed whacker, courtesy of my wife, who had fantasies of using it herself. It's OK for little jobs, but worthless for wading into thick weeds. Other than that, I don't own any cordless tools, but there are times when a lower power tool would be easier to control.

My Milwaukee M18 Fuel 16 inch chainsaw is lighter and better than the Poulin gas any day without fumes, gas and excessive noise. One 4 amp battery will last almost as long as the tank of fuel in the Poulin but you can get a 12 amp. The Stihl battery operated one is said to be better but I already have the M18 and M12 system. Free fuel too...still need to wear full protection and including hearing.

The motor behind this saw delivers 2000+ watts of peak power, that痴 75% higher max power than 35cc Gas and 32% higher max power than 40cc Gas engines.

This is of course with the Milwaukee High Output 12.0Ah battery which will make a difference here

My Oregon Self Sharpening Cordless saw is quite the heavy little chunk of gear. I carry it around in case I come across a small tree or branch across a trail. But it wouldn't be my first choice for limbing or working in a basket.

Stihl makes several small battery saws with one being top handle...

EGO makes a 10" pole type chainsaw. I have their 18" chainsaw and their string trimmer. Love them both!

WOW!!! Thanks for all the replies!!! When I started this thread, I thought there's be one or two clear choices, but I guess there are many good ones. I guess I'm gonna have to start going to stores and check them out. Before this thread, I figured it would be Stihl and also rans, but the Stihl is really expensive. Now I see there are lots of choices. Thanks again for all of the replies!!!!!

Does anyone have one of the 18V Ryobi ones? Was leaning in that direction if for no reason other than I have a bunch of other cordless tools in that series.
It would only be used for grass, mostly trimming around gardens, or other places I can't get with a lawnmower. I have a straight shaft gas Echo for heavier stuff.

Only thing I dislike about buying Stihl or Echo battery tools is they lack a lineup of other tools. So if you’re into carpentry or mechanical trades, you’ll need to buy another set of tools (Makita, Milwaukee, etc) with different chargers and batteries.
Don’t get me wrong, the Stihl &Echo tools are excellent, but the small amount of quality you might give up with a DeWalt or Makita chainsaw or weed wacker is negligible compared to the lower cost, and confusion of owning 2 sets of batteries and chargers.

I recently picked up the M18 weed wacker and the first real test was a cemetery out in the woods, the weed wacker did great one battery will surprise you I carried three but only used one. the carburetor on my stihl chainsaw stopped up and it quit but I was tired anyway and the wife had to sit down so we loaded up and left. got home and cleaned the carburetor on the chain saw and it runs like a new one, it should probably don't have 20 hours run time on it.
Since I have the M18 platform I want to try the rear handle left bladed circular saw and I advised my daughter in-law to get my son a M18 chain saw for christmas so I know I'll have to try it.

My Stihl tools, batteries, and charger are in my garden shed where the rest of the property maintenance stuff resides, such as lawn mower, pressure washer, shovels, rakes, fertilizers, etc.

My Dewalt 20v tools all reside in a Harbor Freight tool chest. Over the years I have become particular as to where they go. The more stuff I have accumulated, the more organized it required me to be.

Back to weedwackers, used my battery Stihl again knowing I did not have my gasser to fall back on and I have to say I am liking the fact that I don't need to worry about small engine maintenance now except for the small tiller my wife uses in her garden. That is kind of liberating. I figure I may never buy another gas powered 'appliance' again.
