You now can find generic M12 battery for sale now at a very good price. No Milwaukee label, but other wise looks like the original battery

In particular Milwaukee generic M12 battery.

Seller says he has a Milwaukee 2404 M12 equivalent battery for sale, which should be a 4.0 amp battery at 48W

He has a buy it now price, and is reasonable if that is a 4 amp battery.

I get the battery, and look on the bottom of the battery, and suspicious right away. If says 2402, 36W, that is 3 amp battery, a Milwaukee 2402 equivalent. I have been cheated, and I am pissed.

However, the battery has a big 4 on the side, and Milwaukee does put a big 4.0 on their 4 amp battery.

After I flash him as a scammed artist, all he does is says to send it back.

To check out a 4 amp battery, if a 12 ohm resister is placed across the 12v, it should draw 1 amp and if it is a 4 amp battery, it should provide 1 amp for 4 hours. Say this is a flash light, then it should light for 4 hours.

You know I am going to send it back.

Anyway, be sure you are getting what you think you should be getting.

This is the bogus battery. It all looks correct, but check things out to be sure.

Did he make a mistake? I doubt it, as he has sold 39 of these batteries.

I bought some aftermarket batteries on ebay for my cordless and my Canon camera. All of them failed pretty fast. I can't even trust when they have the manufacturer's name on them if they come from China because they've all counterfeit. I bought some new batteries direct from the manufacturer and they working great however there a lot more expensive. But why try to save money for something that's going to fail in a few weeks

I have found the best source of OEM batteries at Amazon. OEM for my cell was $59 at Verizon. Cheap Ray O Vac at Batteries plus was $39. Amazon OEM was $6.99 delivered.

Ya gotta watchout with aftermarket vendors some will post a stock advertisement photos and spec write-ups and its not truly representative of what they are selling

You should post the link

That guy in that ad has a 99.7 % positive. Why isn't anyone asking questions on this.

Wow that is pretty confusing...at the bottom it says

Package include:
1 x Compatible Lithium-Ion Battery for Milwaukee 48-11-2402

The photo definitely is of an authentic Milwaukee XC 4.0 and the top text along sides reads

Generic for Milwaukee 48-11-2440 M12 Li-ion XC4.0 Extended Capacity Battery Pack

I see there are other photos for other sellers with a big 4 on Is that what you received?

XC batteries should have XC printed on them

It's a good thing you know the correct part numbers so you could tell the difference

Shoot even had HD do something similar to me a while ago sent me 1.5 ah 2401 when the advertised promo was for 2.0 ah 2420

This is why I've not done business on eBay.

I know many have done well. I've just seen and heard enough negative feedback that keeps me away. Read some information that makes me question their seller rating system as well.

The old adage "buyer beware" even applies to Amazon. Needed some 12 volt wiring supplies to put some power points on my motorcycle a while back. Found what I needed on Amazon. Added everything to my cart for a total of $28. Estimated shipping was $13!!! This was an "order fulfilled by Amazon" so I Googled the supplier represented. They had their own website. Same stuff added to the cart, estimated shipping was a reasonable $4 and change. Needless to say, I ordered direct and was not disappointed.

If the e-bay seller does not handle the return etc. to your satisfaction tell them you are going to give them negative feedback...with a notation that the item was "not as described"...

if it was a PayPal transaction they will make it right (to your satisfaction) even if the seller does not...

Well, he will have one more to sell when I send this battery back, and give negative feedback.

There are several more sellers with deceptive advertising.

The 4 on the side of the battery is there to make you think you are getting a 4.o amp battery.

To the the poster about new replacement.

New means new, and the replacement means that it will fit, which it will, just 25% power below what was expected.

I have 5 of the Milwaukee batteries both 2402 and 2440, I have three drills and impacts, and flash light so I kind of know the difference what is what.

Could be counterfeit. Chinese are good at copying technology. I was on a web site and could order Oregon chain or stihl chain for saw from china. Name and package was same, but to note all Oregon chain I have recently bought says made in USA on package so unless they recently switched where its made its probably counterfeit.

"Condition: New Replacement, not branded new one.(Pls see clearly before you buy it.)"

From his ad what is new replacement then says not brand new then please see clearly.

I read that as "not branded, new, one" meaning generic... not "not brand new." A comma or two would go a long way. Maybe someone should send him a link to the grammar thread that is going on now. :)

I have all my Milwaukee 18V batteries rebuilt at a local Battery store. They come back with new cells in my old cases, new life and a 1 year warranty. About 1/2 the cost of new. I'm a little careless about leaving them on the chargers so its hard on the batteries, I'm told.

J_J, is your flashlight oil powered ? You're the hydraulics wizard, eh? ! :)

You know they have pretty much same thing going on Amazon...

AKPower® Milwaukee M12 12V 3000mAh Lithium-Ion Battery for Milwaukee 48-11-2440 48-11-2402 M12 XC Lithium-Ion Cordless Tool Battery Rechargerable Li-ion Battery - - Amazon.com

It is clearly a 3.0ah battery but also being advertised as a replacement for the 4.0 ah 2440

Even specs out the Milwaukee 4.0 part# in the first box of technical details/product information.

Though they are generally unmarked you can see the 2402 part # printed on bottom in the ad photo

Its definitely seems to be on the buyer to sort it thru
And with the Amazon vendor, one of the reviewers did take the time to explain what you will actually receive.

I have yet to figure out exactly which battery this M12-B4 one is shown in the OEM packaging. Maybe be an earlier version of the red lithium ? Doesn't say XC on the battery like the ones you get right now from a Milwaukee tool supplier nor does it show the 3 year warranty visible on the packaging like in the second photo.

To leave them on the charger is bad?

To leave them on the charger is bad?

Here's what Milwaukee says about their batteries and chargers.

"The Fuel Gauge lights on 18v battery packs are displayed as the battery is being charged indicating how fully charged the battery pack is. The fuel guage will TURN OFF when the charging is complete...after charging the continuous green light will come on. The charger will keep the battery pack FULLY CHARGED if left on the charger.

On the Milwaukee its automatic. I often leave one in a charger and they are cold to the touch when I go to get them

And it's the same operation for the 12v except for the battery indicator lights.

I'm surprised they still pack printed user manuals no one usually reads them anyhow

Remember this was only for the newest Milwaukee Red Lithium batteries and chargers milage may vary with some others :D
