I have a battery tender jr. that I purchased from BPS. Its the type that can be permanently mounted and wired in...(actually bought it in the boat section) I have thought about installing it on my Bota... Good or bad idea???

That will work fine as far as I can see. Vibration will be there but that tender is made for permanent installation for such conditions (boating, etc).

You can mount it or lay it aside on a work bench, etc and plug it in. I use permanently installed pigtails [on the battery(s)] that comes with the BT and just plug / unplug as I use the machine.

I have been an advocate of these gadgets for years.

I have two batteries on my diesel burner (GMC) and have had those two batteries plugged into one BT (going on three years now and it sits most of the time), with no issues at all. Any analysis beyond that is better for someone else than me, to worry about it.

Don't forget the extension cords for the BT leads (hang overhead). You can thank me later. I cannot stand to walk under or step over a cord across a walkway.

I do not hate the chinese nor am I prejudiced.

I would like to point out the fact that it seems like they are shipping us a lot of substandard (dangerous even) toys, so if they do not care about our children, what makes you think they would care about our tractors (especially the south korean tractors)?

As far as HF, I do not know what country their stuff comes from, dont really care, I do go in once in a while, and look, but typically I walk back out empty handed.

I am still a sucker for a hardware or a farm store
:)

Man if I spend $20,000 of so on a tractor, why not $30 instead of $15 on a tender. I don't mean to sound like a bigot, but why not show some American pride if there is a choice? But no one will hold it against you if you buy china made stuff.

OK, time to put my 2 cents into this thread. (Not picking on you doall)

For the most part, much of the stuff we buy is made in China or similar countries. They build to the specifications of the buyer. The same manufacturer will make both cheap and quality products depending on what has been specified/ordered. If a supplier orders a cheap procuct to sell at an inexpensive price, the manufacturer uses cheap parts to accomplish the task. On the other hand, if the supplier (Miller, Milwakee, etc.) sets specifications to be met, the manufacturer will build to those specifications. If they don't, the next guy in line will get the next contract.

To a large degree, you get what you pay for. You don't get cheap tools by using top quality parts. HF and other stores of the same type, make money by selling cheap tools in mass. For them, the cheaper the tool, the easier it is to sell. No incentive there to sell quality.

There are good tools made all over the world, but nowhere do you find quality for cheap prices.

Just my 2 cents worth.

I now return you to your regularly scheduled thread.:D

Yeah I know there's not much choice, especially on electronics. but that was kind of what I meant by spending a little more on your charger. I doubt there is a tender made here anyway.

I couldn't agree with you more.
