I have a 6' king kutter BB on the back of a JD 4310 and was wondering how much weight to add to it. Or what others have added to there BB. Thanks for any info.

I am currently using four, 42lb JD weights because that is what would conveniently fit on the existing structure. I am planning on fabbing up a weight bracket that would allow six or seven of such weights, mainly for when I want to use the box blade as a counterweight.

Maybe the ground I have around me is just easy to work with but I have never needed any weight. I use the scarifiers when needed and smooth things out as needed.

The guy I bought my used Kubota B7800 and LandPride 54 inch BB from had added weight to the BB. He used a 54 inch long piece of I-beam. Drilled two holes in the top, drilled matching holes in the top rear frame of the BB, hung the I-beam on it and dropped two bolts through the holes. Don't know for sure how much the I-beam weighs. I'm guessing 150 lbs or less since the wife and I can pick it up and move it around with some difficulty. I have tried the BB both with and without the added weight. Works much better with the weight, but I have to be careful lowing the 3pt. With the added weight, it drops real fast if I'm not careful.

I have four suitcase weights and a 6' piece of railroad iron on my 5' boxblade. The weight is mainly for ballast but it does help sink the teeth in my gravel drive. JC

Just to clarify, I only use the extra weights for ballast because I use my BB for counterweight for the loader/forks. When using the BB for its intended use, I haven't found extra weight necessary.

Also, it makes a convenient place to store the weights when I don't need them on the front of the tractor...

Thanks for the feed back. I have some elevator weights I got years ago, why not sure, thought I might need them some day. That was yesterday, I have used the BB without weight didn't work as well as I wanted even after adjusting the top link. The elevator weights weigh about 280# put one on the BB it made a BIG difference very happy with the results. My camera is down, when I get it back I can post some pictures.

I use tractor suitcase weight. Either hang them on 2 existing bars in the middle or hang them on the out side edges. I will typically add 250-300 lbs. Easy on/off. Once I awhile, if I hit too hard of a bump, I can bounce them off.

Here's what I use for my Kubota B7510HST/LA302 FEL and the KK 4-ft XB box blade

Three 120 lb concrete weights. Works fine as FEL ballast and the extra weight really helps that BB work a lot better.
