I'd like to say that I have only one question about my new endeavor but ...
Anyway, I've purchased a disk mower but don't know what height to set it for cutting a Bahia pasture. In years past we've had others hay the property and it looks like they were leaving about a 2" stubble.
So, does the mower skid on the ground or just above?

Thanks

I'm not familiar with bahia or haying in Florida, but we always tried to leave 4-6" of stubble to help get air to circulate all the way around the hay. I would set the mower down on the concrete and measure the distance to the blades as a starting point.

Skids on the ground normally, you can set the skid shoe on some for more clearance. You can carry it high on the 3pt, but cut quality might not be great.

On the disc mowers I've owned for cutting grasses such as Bahia one can lengthen center link on 3 pt to raise cutting height

Well, I set the mower down on the skids and it cuts just as I have seen in the past. Thanks for the advice.
I only wish my tractor had about 20 + more horse power.

Thanks again.
