I shot some 25 years ago maybe? Reloaded fine...

I was using a Winchester pump, and a Mossberg bolt action 12g my dad got as a kid back in the late 40's or very early 50's.

That old Mossberg bolt action swung and shot really nice; it was a slow follow up shot though...

I don't know who made them.. but yeah.. somebody did.

I had a bunch of them and the first time i fired I hung one in my autoloader. took 20 minutes to clear it

they fired fine thru a mossberg 500a pump though...

And when you go to get on the plane, have your concealed carry on you but lie to them and tell them you don't -- I bet there is a penalty for that stupidity too. And as far as never crossing the border because you can't have your gun with you without filling out paperwork, hope you never want to hunt outside the U.S. again cause just about everywhere else in the world requires some paperwork or just plain won't let you do it. JMHO

All the hunting I need to do, I can do on domestic soil and I would never consider having any firearm on my person when flying. They get checked in as normal luggage, in airline approved cases, padlocked and gun locked. The ammunition goes in the regular luggage. I'll leave the on board firearms to the air marshalls and government agents.

I spent a boatload of money in Northern Ontario in past years but no more.

Where I live your car/truck, motorcycle, or bicycle is an extension of your house and enjoys the rights of the Castle Doctrine. You can have your loaded ready to shoot 45ACP semi-automatic pistol laying on your seat next to you, or on top of your dash, or in your glove box. If you have it concealed on your person then you have to have a CCW License which I possess.

Easy to grab in the middle of the night for homestead protection with 15 rounds in a magazine.

Most of the time if you hear a noise or in the soft glow of night lites you see movement outside your bedroom door, especially if you are laying down, your Metal Sights are basically useless unless you turn on lights. My Colt 45ACP Combat Commander Semi-Auto Pistol is my favorite CCW but in bed I always have my 9mm Browning Hi-Power which is equipped with Crimson Trace Laser Grips with me. You can basically be standing on your head and where ever the red dot is is the point of impact as long as you don't jerk the trigger.

out of my group I'm the only fool that owns any bolt action shotguns

For some reson down here they are not popular, and usually if you see one, it goes cheap.

cheapest one I ever got was at a pawn shap during a clearance sale.. was a newhaven ( MB ) 20ga bolt.. it was literally in a bucket of other broke guns and BBLS, split bbls, broke recievers, broke stocks.. true junk. was marked 25$ and the side of the bucket said 'parts guns' make offer

I said 5$ to the guy behind the counter. He said 5 for the gun and 5 for the FDLE call in and he's be happy to get rid of it. said magazine falls out when you fire it, and it won't chamer a round half the time.

paid.. did the call in.. while walking out I saw a box of mix n match shotgun shells.. marked 25 cents each.. I dug around and found 2 20g #8's.. guy behind the counter yelled over to just take em...

while walking to my truck I looke dinthe mag well, and the 2 guide ears at the back that alight the mag and hold it for the retainer clip to engage.. one was bent and folded in, letting an ear ont he mag ride over in front of it instead of behind it. other side went in fine. this put the mag in cockeyed a bit, and the retainer would just barely engage.. also made it hard to cycle round and hav ethe bolt strip them fromt he mag. I reached int here with my truck key and pried the tab up.. on the way home I stopped by my stepdads place and did a bunch of cycling and removal / reninstalation of the mag. held fine.. shot the 2 shels thru fine.

best 5$ shotgun I ever had. still have it..

got plenty more bolts. I see em at shows now and then and can usually get them fro 75-100$ funny enough.. single shot guns generally go for 100-125

go figure. I'd take a 3 shot bolt shotgun to a single ANY day ????

I have 2 Mossberg (New Haven Conn) 3 shot bolt action, 410's , one with an adjustable choke

Hmmmmm, I need to take one out hunting tomorrow, it's been 35 yrs since it's hayday..:thumbsup:

just remembered my dad has a 12 gauge bolt action shotgun,cant remember the make as i havent seen that gun in many years i do remember it has an adjustable choke and i think it had a three shot clip..thanks for talking about the old bolt action shotguns, i'll have to make a trip to dad's place and take a look at it again

Depending on one's ability to hit what what they are aiming at directs your choice. High power guns can cause a lot of damage when fired inside the house /garage /barn. My current choice for the situation you described would be the Taurus Judge Magnum Revolver . I would load 3 - 410 magnum loads and 2 - 45 lc's. Hitting a cornered angry animal is always easier with a shotgun load. Easier to carry on a tractor with snake loads also.
