No water cooled engine will run cool with a clogged radiator, not even a JD.

Pull the radiator out and make sure it is 100% clean. Shine a light through it to check. 98% of the time that will solve the problem. Most people only get about half the radiator clean.

There have been a couple people on this site that have complained of overheating on the TYM built 3510/4110 Mahindras. We've sold a bunch of them and have not seen overheating problems, and we see over 110 degree heat in the summer. I think someone mentioned that the core may be too fine, and with the right sort of material in the air, it just clogs too fast. I had a skidsteer that was like that, and I had to clean the radiator way too often. I replaced it with a thicker core with more space between the fins. It was less efficient, but it did not clog near as easily, and the extra thickness gave enough cooling.

A tractor that overheats doesn't get any work done, and is frustrating, but I've never seen one that could not be made to run cool.

There is really only two things that can make a motor run hot and that is restircted air flow or restricted water flow. Eliminate the items that can restrict these one by one till you find the culprit. Air flow is pretty simple, just do a visual by shining a light from one side while viewing from the other. Water flow is most likely your culprit and I would start with a good light looking at what you can see from the radiator fill port. If cores are clean, then move on to the thermostat, fan belt, the fan itself might need to be more blades to pull more air if designed improperly, but this would be a long shot, Check that our bottom hose is not collapsing at high engine RPM. This would indicate a stopped up radiator core and might well be your problem. When this happens, the engine will usually cool down quickly when throttle is reduced. Good luck in finding the gremlin, but I really doubt that it is an overall design issue, otherwise it would have been brought here to this forum many many times by now.

Good morning. First time on this site. I am in the market to buy a mid size compact tractor. Prices that I have are JD and Kubota. Two JD prices and one dealer tells me HSt and the other MT. One says 3208E and other the 3005. Primary purpose for either tractor is grooming mower first, bush hog second and front end loader a distant third. May pull disk but this is not a big deal. Kubota dealership does not have a very good shop as far as repairs go. Three deere dealers within 30 minutes of where I live. Therefore I have two questions: 1. HSt versus Manual Transmission and 2. 3208E versus the 3005. I know that there is 10 HP difference but being told that with the HST that they lose about 6 to 7 HP being an HST. Could I get some thoughts about which to do. 3208E is $1400.00 higher than 3005. Thanks and have a great day.

You'd be better off posting this question in the JD forum as you seem to have narrowed the choice down to that brand. This thread is really more about overheating issues. Oh, yeah, and welcome to TBN.:)

I'm pretty darn happy with my own Mahindra 3510 (which has never once overheated in 3 years), but I am always willing to learn something new about a competing machine. So please, what exactly is it about your neighbor's Kubota 3240 that makes it twice the tractor that your Mahindra 4110 is? I'm not looking for a debate or argument. Just trying to understand what you found so appealing about the Kubota vs the Mahindra. Thanks!

Rusty

The Kubota is heavier built, the hydraulics worked smoother, no problems with tach jumping around like my mahindra, liked the gauges better, felt like it had more pulling power, easier access to controls (ie shifter, loader control, etc), quality and workmanship just seemed like a much better tractor. I have become so aggravated with my mahindra, that it mostly sits and I use my JD with 3000 hours on it.

Thanks for the explanation. I'll have to go look at one. From the specs alone, the 4110 looks like the bigger, stronger, heavier tractor by far. Shows that specs alone don't tell the whole story. "Twice the tractor" is quite a bold and strong endorsement. This I've got to go see and experience for myself. Perhaps I will become a Kubota convert!

I came close to buying a Kioti CK35 before I ended up settling on the Mahindra 3510. If the Kioti had a better backhoe arrangement, I could have gone for it. The tractor itself was a nice unit but I would never describe it as twice the tractor the Mahindra was. Plus that dealer dropped the Kioti line not long afterward. Overall, I'm pleased the way things worked out.
