Price Check BEST PRICE ON KUBOTA M5040

I certainly get a charge out of all you folks shopping on price alone and never considering what happens after the sale, especially if you need warranty work done. The cheapest isn't always the best deal in the long run.

I've owned 7 Kubota's, my latest 2 are an M105 and an M9000 and I've never dickered on price like you floks do, but then, I'm in an agricultrial enviroment and I depend on service after the sale.

If I buy a tractor from somebody farther away than my closest dealer, and then I need warranty work done, do you think the closest dealer would refuse my work just because I did not buy from them? I think they make as much money from warranty work either way.

I have the opposite situation. I bought my tractor from the local dealer. If I have a problem that requires major work, I will take it to the dealer 80 miles away because I think their service department is much better.

You shouldn't have to use the dealer you bought the tractor from for your warrenty work. If the local dealer treats you different because you didn't buy from him then that shows his true colors.

AMEN
I think that the dealer should just be honest and upfront with you. If they get mad because I did not buy from them , maybe they should have come down a little on the price.

Even if the dealer closest to me charges me more for my warranty work, I have about 1700 to spend that I saved up front. Hopefully I will not be spending weeks at the dealer for problems, if so I may have got the wrong tractor.

from one Larry to another... If I was a dealer and your talked to me like you post here, you wouldn't worry about buying or not buying from me.. I've read this from the beginning and it is all about how much you can beat a dealer down in price... You evidently haven't much thought about after the sale, or I don't see this in any of your posts... There comes a time when beating dealers to death is just that,. beating the dead horse... And I believe I can contribute in the fact that the L48 I bought, was 350 miles from me only because of many thousands of dollars different than the New England dealers,... NOt a few thousands,,, many thousands.... The guy threw a price at me and I accepted that price with no further questions.. I have exceptional service even though I have to wait one or two days for filters, parts or whatever.... Big deal,, that's the price I pay to save thousands.... I think you hit about rock bottom for bids... Accept one of the bids and go on... No future in trying to get blood out of a rock/.//

What faith do you get out of a dealer when you walk up and say I want to buy a tractor, what is your best price? And he tells you a price that he says is his lowest dollar and then in a couple of days he comes down 1700? Sounds like he could have come down a little more to start with.

FWIW, the final price should have no bearing on the warranty work or service. You aren't physically beating him down to get the best price. It's all what you negotiate. If he loses money on the deal, it's his fault, not yours.

I personally want the dealer to make some money so when I go into the dealership they don't all say here comes that guy that want's everything for free. I have an excellent relationship with my dealer and receive excellent service. I believe I got a great deal and that's all that matters! That's just my 2 cents.

Well, I probably should keep my mouth shut since I have done business with Randy Standridge. I am not defending his price. He doesn't own the dealership (or set the prices as far as I know) and I happen to know they are a fine establishment, with a good reputation in the community. I also know any larger dealership, although they sell more tractors and some might argue they could do with less profit/tractor, has to pay their service people and parts people irregardless of sales. At various times of the year, tractor sales are going to be down, period. I'd like to see those guys keep there jobs to support their familes as well as take care of my tractor if it needs service. I've had service done at a small dealership that only had one service guy. I had to leave the tractor for a month to get it done! This same dealer had by far the lowest prices on tractors, but he didn't have many employees to pay and didn't stock many tractors - just ordered what you wanted. It doesn't bother me to know I spent a little more up front. It's not like I didn't shop prices to make sure I wasn't getting ripped. In the end, I did NOT make price the most important thing. My attitude toward the fine dealer I used here in Missouri resulted in saving $900 over other quotes, but not because I went in and demanded it. I had already agreed on a price that included future service bonuses (see below) and the $900 savings was offered to me after I had agreed to purchase.
The big bonus is that I don't have a trailer to transport the L5030 for service work. The dealer is 45+ minutes away, but agreed to provide free p/u and delivery for any service work (and not with inflated service prices). That saves me lots of money, either on a trailer purchase or transport fees. The dealer was honest in saying they will do warranty/service work on a tractor purchased elsewhere, but work for folks who bought from them would be done first, so my tractor might be there awhile. Read the Kubota warranty info - Kubota backs the dealers on this policy.
Enough said - not trying to chide Larry and I'm in no way personally slighted that he isn't interested in buy from Randy Standridge. I just have a different viewpoint. I am thankful in my business that while price is important, service and attitude is the reason most of our customers shop with us. That makes for a much more pleasant day when I get to deal with folks that are glad to be there and glad to see me (not just my prices!). And for what it's worth in making my point, even though I don't own the establishment, I DO set the prices so I have a pretty good feel for this (granted it is a different business altogether).
