I buy this rubber checker plate matting at Princess Auto when on sale. It is sold by the foot. 1/8 thick x 40 inch wide. I�･ sure it is available at Harbor Freight stores or similar.

I閾ｴe used it on the top surfaces of welders I閾ｴe resold to hide the dents and scratches from former owners.

I now glue them on my own welders as it provides an attractive non slip work surface.

Also they cover the holes on the bases of my drill presses to prevent chips from accumulating in them.

Brilliant ideas... I could use that stuff on my drill press and a few other areas for sure! No Princess Auto here but will check HF or O'Rielly's. Either that or I grab a chunk from you in trade for some CB stuff when I visit... targeting June!

Part 3 Let’s Wrap it Up

Another thing I like to use in the shop is relatively cheap plastic spiral wrap for hose and cables.

It’s a nice easy way to tidy up otherwise unruly multiple wires and cables.

Cheap plastic wrap available at electronic stores:



Heavier spiral wrap for hydraulic hose. Shown here on plasma cutter torch cables.







Those were a few examples. I’m certain most of you can find a lot more creative ideas.

I really like that spiral wrap. Nice protection when dragging across the floor or scraping against something.

Great looking shop and equipment, Terry, it's been a while since I've been on the site and noticed your postings about your shop and tools and such. I just love looking at other guys shop equipment and the buildings that contain them. A couple of years ago you had shared with me a picture of your excavator that you had restored, it was really a good job you had done. We can all get ideas from some other person to maybe use or adapt to our own stuff! Wow keep up the good work and share it all............ with us.:thumbsup:

I made a cutter to make that heavy vinyl wrap for hoses and such. They get a premium at the hose shops for that stuff.

I just use well pipe or whatever plastic pipe I have on hand. It will cut different diameters.
