Probably a Canada thing, mostly covered, I'm going to have to get a checkup soon, the wife is really getting on me, apparently being 37 isn't as resilient as being 25 like I think I am... Was getting some cheap firewood (mill ends, $60 for a 4x4x4 pallet) and the kid loading the trailer had the audacity of asking if I had any kids that played for the local highschool, of course I answered I'm not that old which my wife corrected me for later... calendars are mean :)

Congrats, being above average is always better...

You’re just getting started rangerfredbob. I was older than a lot of my daughter’s classmate’s grandparents.

Actually her grandmother, ( my father in laws second wife) is a few years younger than me

I had a cardiac work up about 5-6 years ago. It was at request of my Primary Care who asked if I ever had one. As I said No, she said we probably should establish a baseline for future reference as I was over 65. The clinic was going nuts over Obamacare at the time. The whole cardiac eval was over 3 day span. They stopped me just short of the last treadmill segment, they didn’t know I was doing several miles a day on my Treadclimber. At the final debrief, the PA kept saying how good my numbers, except for some diminished venal capacity in lower legs, but said he needed a reason for the workup. When I said apparently because I said I had insurance, he said that wasn’t acceptable. We settled on low resting heart rate.

I’m glad this is my thread.

Continuing on with being “all over the place”; there’s lots of ways to shorten a bolt. Smaller diameter ones I usually clamp in the vise and zip off the excess length with a cut off wheel.

If I have to cut more than a few larger diameter bolts I like to use the horizontal bandsaw for speed and accuracy.

Depending on the diameter of the Bolt/Machine Screw, I usually just use a Hacksaw, BUT I usually us three nuts of the same size to assist.
I screw the nuts on the bolt, one all the way to the head, and two at the cut location, locked against each other.
I cut the bolt in a vise, back the locked nut back up the bolt, grind a slight chamfer on the end of the bolt to clean it up, and then take the nuts off.

Why the NUTS, first... they align the Bolt in the vise and protect the threads, second... after cutting and chamfering the bolt, you can rethread the end of the bolt by removing the nuts. Just make sure to lock the two nuts at the cutting point together, snug; this will stop the bolt from spinning when cutting.

Just something I do, and it works well; sometimes I still need to run a Die over the bolt but usually it work out ok.

Good advice Scrambler, especially about locking the two nuts together at the cutting point.

I don’t lock my nuts together. Leave them the blade width apart and securing in the vise so they don’t move. I also do a quick chamfer before, never had to use die after.
